Will was walking along the side of the Thames with his camera, taking pictures of...well, pretty much everything. The London Eye, the campus, the skyline...he was munching on a hot dog as he took in the sights.
Marcus was heading towards Will from the opposite direction. He woke up early to go into the town and look at some of the stores. His head was lowered as he looked through some catalog he picked at one of the stores there. Upon closer inspection, the catalog was about rings.
A brief glance up from his reading and he noticed Will. "Hey man."
"Similar kind of thing. I'm just trying to get some photos for reference--plus it's interesting enough around here to justify me wasting a perfectly good day outside.
"Not yet; I'm saving that one. Right now, I'm just trying to get some shots from ground level and whatnot--the Eye'll give me a great overview, but that is what it is."
He smirked. "That's cool. You guys were kinda hitting it off in the Danger Room and after the talk in the XUB, I figured I should give you two some space."
Oh, and feel free to tag along. I've been getting a little board wandering around on my own, and I think I permanently scared Simon away, so I could use the company.
Want a hot dog? I'm just about finished with this one."
"Well, I'm not sure if I scared him off or not--I just, uh, don't know his whereabouts that night. I owe him a steak, or a beer, or something. I had...other things on my mind."
Will orders two hot dogs, leaving one plain for himself.
"Bingo. He was on team one, you might have seen him at the briefing; monkey man? I dunno. Roommates, man. Still not used to having one; it can certainly be a drag."
"Oh, the guy with the tail? Yeah. I saw him around."
He chuckled. "I had to deal with the roomie thing for such a long time back at XI. So I'm more than used to it. I think I prefer having a cool roomie too. Always someone to talk to or do something with, that is, if they're around."
"I suppose I'll get used to it. At my last school, it was all private rooms. Which can be nice if you're not publicizing the fact that you're a mutant, right?"
"That's true and even if you did have the time for it, X-teams would really intefere with any sort of other work once we had to do a mission. Hey Boss, I'm calling out today. Why? Oh, I've been kidnapped and being tortured half way around the world."
No, I'll have to spend at least a year in the dorms before I'm off on my own, unless I had, like, a bunch of people to move in with or something, and then you have the original problems again."
"I haven't seen like, a tenth of it, but it seems great. I've got to get a job though, everything fun costs, in a big city." Dave smiles, not overly concerned.
