Stan "Vanguard" Bowen

Postby Stan Bowen » Thu Mar 05, 2009 12:54 am

Name: Stanley 'Vanguard' Bowen, PhD
Age: 48

Known relations:
Bobby, Christine, Tommy: Children
Jennifer: Wife, deceased

Power: Doctor Bowen is capable of transforming into a being composed of white ionic energy. While in this form, he can fly exceptionally fast, gains slight superhuman strength (about three times peak human strength) and is capable of converting organic tissue (other than his own) into organic steel, of a similar composition to Piotr Rasputin, for a limited time. He is a good fighter, although he has let his skill slip in recent years.

Personality: Doctor Bowen is weary. He's seen and done it all as a mutant adventurer in a previous life, and now all he wants to do is quietly settle down and teach the next generation. He has suffered great loss in his past, and he sometimes comes across as if he is missing something- a little depressed, a little gruff, a little wistful. He does know his stuff academically, though- He's one of the world's foremost experts on the relatively new subject of Mutant Studies.

Description: Doctor Bowen dresses a little rumply, opting for slacks and a buttoned up shirt and tie (not always ironed) while on campus and teaching. On the off chance you see him off campus, he'll usually be wearing jeans and sweaters.

Background: Stan Bowen, once upon a time, lived in Canada with his wife and three children, and was a member of Delta Flight, a group of Government sanctioned superheroes. Then, his worst nightmare came true- his wife was killed by his archenemy, breaking him.

After quickly retiring from the business, he reassembled his life with his children in upstate New York, founding the Mutant Studies department at ESU's upstate campus. And now, during a sabbatical, he has been invited as a visiting professor for a year to XLU.

Any organic tissue? Or just his own?

Organic tissue other than his own. In the past, he primarily used it to defend bystanders from injury during battles with villains. (edited app)

Sounds good to me. Teachers will be playing a more low-key role in the school, of course, but may be called upon for the occasional high-powered problem.
