Iss1dt_wk2 (Sunday) - Columbia Road - Morning

Niles wasn't really sure what Veronica would want to do so he just tied to come up with something. (Wandering aimlessly around London really wasn't what he had in mind.) He finally decided to take Veronica to Columbia Road Market, and made reservations at a nearby restaurant to eat at later.

Niles didn't tell Veronica exactly what they were going to, just that it was a street market only open on sundays, along with the street's regular shops. The bus they took to get there had now arrived and the two of them got off.

Niles looked over at Veronica "Well, here it is. Columbia Road Market."

Veronica stepped off the bus and smiled widely, looking around at the crowd of people, the old brick houses and the seemingly endless line of vendors. Not wanting to stand out as a foreigner too much she had decided to British it up a bit, wearing a yellow v-neck argyle sweater with a pair of warm tight khaki pants and grey boots. Her little purse hung over her shoulder and across her chest by it's long strap, a tweed salt & pepper cap hiding some of her black hair.

"Ooh! It's like a giant flea market!"

Niles was somewhat nervous as to what her reaction would be. Seeing it was good so far, he was quite relieved.

“The stalls mostly have flowers, plants, or gardening stuff. The brick and mortar stores however sell a variety of different stuff.”

"I'm a girl, it's a given that I'll like flowers." She joked, giving Niles a little nudge.

Veronica just rolled her eyes at Niles and smirked. "I guess you forgot where we go to school, Niles."

Veronica just laughed softly at Niles' playful innocence. She walked beside him as they perused the little stands and shops along the street, keeping close to him to keep from getting split up by the teeming crowds.

"I like it" Veronica smiled, making a face at some sort of sandwich shop that had egg-salad and bacon bagel sandwiches in the windows. "Ugh, I thought the food back home was fatty."

“What? Don't tell me that you guys across the pond think you came up with all those overly fatty, greasy, and salty foods all by yourselves.” Niles grinned.

"Then how come whenever I watch tv you guys are always all gangly and pale?" Veronica nodded her head with her arms crossed, confident she had proven her point.

Veronica swung her arms as she walked, thinking as she looked around. "Well the flowers of course. They're all so pretty! Maybe it's all the greys and browns around here but they look so bright and colourful and OH GOD!"

The petite girl stopped in her tracks with her mouth wide open. "HATS!" She grabbed Niles' wrist and dragged the poor boy through the staring crowd toward a tiny used and vintage clothing store.

"Uh, Okay." Niles had an odd expression on his face. Those that knew him better would realize it meant 'What have I gotten myself into'.

Veronica looked like a kid in a candy store when she saw the racks and racks of clothing crammed into the tiny shop. She was especially taken by the Styrofoam heads displaying the numerous hats. Some were large church hats while others looked to be more of the antique variety. "I love these places. There's always so much neat stuff! I haven't really been to one over here yet though."

Niles looked around some but didn't seem at all interested. “So you like shopping for clothes? There is another non-surprise.” Niles smiled.

Veronica grabbed an especially flamboyant red church hat, one whose entire right side was taken up by a folded fabric flower whose petals made it look like a shuriken.

"What do you think? See anything you like?"

Niles was looking through a rack of jackets, mostly just giving them a passing glance. He looked up at the hat Veronica had and gave it an unappreciative expression.

"I think that hat looks completely ridiculous. As for me, I don't see anything so far, but I'm not really into vintage clothing."

Veronica pouted like a girl who had been told she couldn't play with the boys; a playfully disappointed pout. "Ptth, I thought you were fun" she teased. She put the hat back, knowing full well it was rather horrible; that's what made it so amusing. She waited until Niles was looking at the jackets again before making her move, plopping an older used brown bowler hat over his head.

"There, that's more to your liking isn't it Mister Fuddyduddy?" She grinned, plopping a black bowler hat atop her own head at an angle.

Niles takes off the hat and looks at it. “Its not bad, It definitely has the duddy, but I think it is lacking a bit of fuddy.” Niles smiles.

Niles looks at Veronica and the hat she had on. In addition to being on at an angle it was obviously too big for her. “Oh, your hat is on crooked, let me fix it.” Instead of straightening it he pulled it down in the front so it was covering her eyes. “There, that is better.”

Veronica eeked and giggled loud enough to attract the attention of the store owner, not that she seemed to care. She was laughing too hard to to think about that.

Veronica glared at Niles and clenched her fists before bursting into a fit of giggles. "Sorry, it's funny when you look all scared of someone smaller than you." She plopped the bowler hat back on it's Styrofoam head and gave Niles' sleeve a little tug. "Come on, before the owner throws somethin' at us" she smiled, rolling up her salt & pepper cap and stowing it in the back pocket of her pants.

“Okay, lets go” With that he walked out of the shop with Veronica. After they stepped outside he looked at his watch. “We still have awhile before its time to go eat, anything else you want to look at?”

“Well, I like to occasionally look in the little art galleries, though I rarely ever buy anything.” He spotted one a bit further down and started to make his way to it. He then glanced over at Veronica who was messing with her hair. “I didn't mean you need to do it right now silly.”

Veronica let her hair fall down in it's usual shape and put her hands on her hips. "Well how else am I 'sposed to know if yer right or wrong? I can't wait weeks to know whether or not I'm gonna punch you in the arm." She grinned and quickly caught up, curious to see what kind of things caught Niles' eyes.

“Good to know you are only going to punch me in the arm if I'm wrong, some girls would go ahead and punch me in the arm anyway.” Niles smiled.

When they got to the shop they could see a few paintings from the window as they walked inside.

A woman was siting behind the counter looking through a magazine. Her eyes briefly glanced over at Veronica and Niles as they entered the shop. “Welcome, feel free to look around.” She stated blankly, before her eyes quickly returned to the magazine.

Now that they were inside, lots of paintings could be seen, almost completely covering the walls of the tiny shop. The paintings seemed to be mostly oil paintings, but were of a wide variety of subjects. They ranged from nature scenes, to still life, and even included a few more abstract pieces. People wise it was mostly empty, with only two other customers looking around.

"Oh wow, this is nice." Veronica whispered as though she were in a museum. "I've never really gone to an art gallery or anythin' before." The petite girl stood closely beside Niles, staring up at the paintings like a child looking at the stars.

Niles was looking around at the different paintings. Most he just glanced at, but some he examined more closely, looking at the little details and examining the artist's technique.

He turned to Veronica. “You've really never been to a gallery before?”
