The shy bookworm at the market!

Postby Sara McDohl » Wed Jul 01, 2009 2:13 pm

Sara decided that she needed to get to know her new home a little better. She obviously could not just stay in the dorms the entire time. The Market was probably not the best place for her to go, what with all the bustling about of people doing their shopping, but that wasn't going to stop her today. She was on a mission, a mission for snacks. "Snickers...Potato Chips...M&Ms...what am I missing...?" She questioned herself.

Exploring the 'mental' plane of the city Teri's mind skips along the insects that haven't succumbed to the dropping temperatures yet. She doesn't seem to care much about being spotted, keeping her alertness focused mostly on any flare of activity that might come from the distant campus.
It will propably hard for Sara to miss Teri's presence as she sweeps over her as she fans out over Camden like a cloud of constant, incoherent thoughts.

The girl continued her spree of snack shopping, that is until she heard thousands of voices scattering about above her. She grabbed at her head, but the pain was getting to her a bit, and she fell to her knees. "Who and What are you!?", her mind flared out angrily.

A small cloud breaks off at the angry scream, the rest soon following once she notices more behind it than some weak, anoyed telepath. Her astral presence condensing into a shape resembling her normal one, hovering in a cloud of locust that constantly stream out of her flowing hair.

"That's none of your concern, little girl."

The girl winced as she stood back to her feet, her head still throbbing with the pain from the many minds around her. She held her hand to her head while focusing to get away from all of the voices. "You are probably correct, but you know what they say...curiousity killed the cat."

"Cats also aren't very good at assessing situations very well. Let us guess. You're from Xavier's." It's not even a question and more a stating of facts that's preceeded by a surge of activity in the swarm.
"What is it that the cat is curious about then, hmm?"

The girl winced once again when the surge of activity hit. Her mind still attempting to break through the masses to only hear the individual voice. "New to Xavier's Campus to be exact. The cat has a name, I am Sara, Sara McDohl. Who are you?...or should I just call you Hive Girl."

The girl takes a few deep breaths, trying to collect herself. "Well Miss Teri, the populace there seems alright..there are some interesting personalities...I give them that...I am not so sure about this X-Teams that I was told about.." Her psyche seemingly balancing out from earlier.

"Aah, the X-Teams. Lumis' private army. Wether you have doubts for the right reasons or not, it's propably not a bad thing to avoid buying into the delusion right away." A derisive luaghter ripples through the swarm.

A sly smirk crossed her lips as she listened to the swarm. "So my new buggy friend...are you just going to float there all day, or would you like to come down here, and take a little stroll. Her voice echoing throughout the minds of the swarm. A mischievous laughter could also be heard..

"How cute, you think we stopped what we were doing to chat with you? We're 'strolling' already, important things to do and all that. If you have something in mind then let it out, Sara McDohl." To call the pronounciation of her name condescending would propably be an understatement.

The smirk continued to hold on the girls lips. She was enjoying every moment with this being.. I must have made such an impression, my liege, if only to get you to stop for the moments that you have, Swarm Queen Teri.. Her mind spoke in a very condesending tone to the other girl.

"You either have some guts in you or you are seriously retarded." The edges of her mouth twitch to a smirk for a second though at the title. "Your continued struggle to pry things from our mind falls into the same category. If we were you we'd stop though before it stops amusing us and becomes obnoxious." One side of her mouth pulled up into a smirk she pushes against Sara's probing mind to make sure the girl knows she's merely tolerating it because he knows it won't give her any important information.

The smirk on the girl's face turned into a bright smile. "I--I am very sorry if I have offended you in anyway...I do hope I did not harm you in any way, Miss Teri." She spoke very meekly, and quiet, as if she was toying with the other girl entirely. "Yes..., My dear Swarm Queen... " Spoke her mind at the same time..she felt the pressure against her probing and pushed back, rather hard at first..then back off to the level she had been before. A small giggle could be heard throughout the various minds..

"Having a bit of trouble making up your mind there or does the cat want to play?" her astral avatar smirks as she lets Sara push into her mind, thought fragments and impression shifting and flickering around as Sara will suddenly find it hard to withdraw from the swarm. "Because playtime is over, girl."

Her expression turns serious, echoes and fragments of her 'talking' entering Sara's mind before, throughout and after the actual sentence. "We don't know what you want, but we think you should be cautiously aware of the situation here."

"Playtime is never over, My dear Swarm Queen.., Playtime is just beginning..." The girl smiles brightly to the projection floating above her. "Please do not worry yourself over this little kitten. Her claws are not that sharp." The grin on her face grows as she attempts to contact pieces of Lady Teri's swarm. She attempts to influence the bugs to move around to give the Swarm Queen a more fitting shape of a Queen to insects, essentially making her look pregnant for a brief few moments.

The suggestion is soaked up by the swarm, passing along from locust to locust as Teri tries to get an idea of what the girl is trying to do, it's not an obviously conscious decision that lets the influence spread through the swarm. Teri's avatar squirms in what can only be described as unnatural movement under her skin as her stomach grows.

"You have a rather bizarre sense of 'fun'." she responds in a dry tone, not bothering to revert the change at the moment. "You shouldn't rely too heavily on your harmless facade though. Or maybe you just don't realize the situation?"
Thanks to Sara's continued pushing into Teri's mind her hold on the girl grows continually stronger, the first few hints of not playing any larger role in the feint chorus of voices starting to settle in Sara's mind. "Maybe you're right though and playtime IS just beginning." she grins.

She grins once again.."My dear Swarm Queen, is it just me, or are you opening up to me? I fear that you might just be too much fun for little old me..., but then again, where is the fun in that?" The girl calms her center, and moves to push the mental force from Teri back into the scattered parts of the swarm. She goes to pull away from the concentrated sections of the swarm, leaving behind mental images of her past, the pain, suffering, and jealousy...

"A little fear never hurt anybody." she grins as Sara pulls back and throws up painful memories as a deterrent. Pushing into the mental images parts of the swarm grow visibly agitated as Teri tries to let a somewhat seperated group deal with them, but the ones clinging to Sara's mind are quickly replaced by others. Not letting go of the girl she goes on, her voice more intense with a considerable number of her holding on to Sara's mind. "In case you haven't noticed, we're playing -our- game now. Show us that you're aware and just brave as opposed to blissfully ignorant. Have you realized what you've gotten yourself into?"[i]

More coherent fragments of Teri's thoughts are starting to bleed over into Sara's mind.

"No one said I was not afraid...I have known what you have been moving to do for a short while. The idea intrigues me, and I wanted to see how I would fair. It was not exactly the smartest move on my part, but I get to have fun in the process." She continued to push away from the assault on her mind even if it is futile. Teri would be able to feel the sense of euphoria that is currently in the telepath's mind.

"And instead of finding something worthy you waste your time on cheap tricks? Of course causing 'mischief' can be fun but it's not nearly as satisfying as using it as a stepping stone to more... elaborate things."

"That you stop calling us that, for one. If we'd want you grovelling before us we'd be making sure it's sincere. And go come up with your own ideas. String things together, improvise if that is more to your liking than meticulous planning. But don't bother us with your inability to do so because you would likely fail to grasp our plans anyway."

The girl's face turned from one of happiness to that of a frown. "You do not think I have items along my agenda? The enjoyment of what I do is what I live for...currently....

"And people say we're crazy." Teri chuckles, the sound splintering into echoes as the human part of her avatar bursts into locusts, her voice continuing on in a chorus. "You should run back to your school now."
From somewhere down the street in the physical world police sirens are growing louder as a huge cloud of various insects bursts from what appears to be a pharmacy.
