Gemma Sloan wrote:"If fighting is not allowed, sit the bloody hell down and we won't have to fight. But you're showing your hand," she was talking to no one in particular. As the dual tonal quality of her voice continued it actually looked like she got slightly bigger. "I don't know all these people, but I do know for bloody sure that Theresa and Vickie would never lockstep like this. I also happen to know that some of these people are still alive and safe elsewhere."

"We're ALL Alive and Safe HERE," two or three said, simultaneously, in voices merging and changing tone. "All of us. Alive. And Safe. You can't change that!"

A couple things happened, as the focus was shifted towards Gemma's quite impressive delay.

First of all, the campus back HERE, behind the cafeteria, looked more run-down and decaying, with patches of dirt and broken glass plainly visable--but only in patches. An area would look new and painted and great, and then another area would look like it hadn't been touched for 20 years.

Jennifer would ALSO get that humming sound again, but not from all around her, like before. It was hard to pinpoint exactly, but it didn't feel like it was coming from the point, where the Danger Room tech would have been. It felt more like living quarters.

"Whatever that hum is, it's not coming from the Point. We should get inside and take a look around." she says, heading for the entrance to the cafeteria.

"We ARE who we are. We are Xaviers. We are family..." the voices said, in practiced unison.

"family..." Simon whispered.

If Trev had still been pudgy, the cafeteria would have been a sight for sore eyes. Someone had set up a flippin' ice cream bar. Seriously. Ice Cream.

The sight of a younger version of himself pigging out on what looked like a massive sundae might bother him a bit more.

"This isn't family. This is a kid playing with dolls and calling it family. Everything is an imitation of how you expect it to be, but the things you get wrong only serve to reinforce that this is all a lie." She sighed and took a few steps forward, "And I get wanting that family. I don't have all my friends back, but I went out looking and found some of them."

Perhaps that gave Lumis pause, as he hesitated for a moment, fist outraised.

What it DIDN'T do is stop everyone, as all of a sudden, Merle leaped up from a table and tried to jump her

Gemma didn't recognize the person leaping at her, but she braced anyway. Her body continued to burn and flicker as she prepared for whatever this person had in store.

Merle slammed into Gemma with the force of...well, not a freight train, but at least a nice solid Ford Transit. Of course, this had the side-effect of setting himself on fire, which seemed to give him pause in any sort of followup attack.

"Subdue...restrain..." the people began to chant, as several more people (Ryan, Kelly, and Jayda, from the looks of it) stood up to flank Gemma.

Back in the cafeteria, everyone...stumbled for a moment. The floor also fluctuated, going from pristine to ruined and back again, in a "blink and you'll miss it" sort of moment.

Gemma stumbled back from the impact, growling as she regained her footing. "In case you haven't noticed, he hit me first. It's his fault he's on fire," she said. She drew herself up a bit, becoming more imperious, glaring at the flankers first, "That is your warning. I will begin responding in kind to further attacks."

The funny thing was, "John" had just come around from behind a crowd of people, and the group could have SWORN there was no John there a moment before.

Everyone tried to dive out of the way, and were mostly successful.

Oddly, the winged ones (i.e., Ryan and Kelly) did so on the ground, rather than taking to the air.

In the cafeteria, everyone stumbled again, and this time the WALL flashed. And Jennifer would get a MUCH more solid ping from upstairs, towards the Dower House.

"There's someone real over that way!" she shouts, trying to ignore and drown out the copies that seem to be showing up from all over. She takes off into a jog, shoving Nightcrawler out of her way as she does.

Jennifer doesn't see that coming at all and goes flying, only barely managing to lessen the impact some by projecting a forcefield in front of her to take the brunt of slamming through a table. "Motherfucker!" she curses as she pulls herself up from the floor.
