The magic doorway

The Estate's meticulously kept gardens, including a hedgemaze that students have occasionally described as "sadistic" and a sizeable rose garden. Benches in shaded spots are plentiful, and the gardens are popular to study in on pleasant days.

"Oh," Paul said, feeling chastised. "I'm... sorry. I'll remember that." Way to fumble, dufus.

Elise looked back at Paul, waving her hands. "No no! I don't mean... I..." She was just trying to be cool, but she hadn't meant to come off as unappreciative.

"Um...okay so..." Just tell him! You're still cool even if you like all these things! Elise looked at Wiggles, who was staring at her expectantly, then looked back to Paul.

"I lied. I like pretty things. I like bright colors and rainbows. I like the color pink the most. I like butterflies and kittens and puppies and all of that childish stuff." She blurts out. "I just wanted to be cool."

Elise thought about it for a moment, and of course, took it the completely wrong way, thinking there was something wrong with her. "Oh..." She said, sounding a bit deflated. Even Wiggles seemed to deflate a bit, looking between the two.

"Mom used to say I'm too *bouncy*. That one day it's gonna get me into heaps of trouble. That I shouldn't focus on girly things because the future is about making money and establishing...well, a future. But yeah, you're right. I mean, not a lot of people appreciate the hard work put into drawings." She says with a nod-nod.

"I mean, I get the whole 'future' thing. But... what's the point if you have to hide what makes you happy?" Paul looked a little uncomfortable now, and turned and walked over to the waterfall, peeking down over the edge.

"Aww, that's so true!" Elise said with a smile, departing from the shoreline and heading over to where he was. She peeked as well.

"Holy bajeezes! We're up pretty high!"

"Pft, it wouldn't be a big deal if we fell. I mean, I can fly, you can teleport. So like...there's really no danger."

Butbut...you don't have complete control over flying yet! You could totally fall!
I can do it!

"Anyway, yeah, this is *totes* inspiring. I love the way the water turns to mist down there. It's awesome."

"Oh, yeah. But- ooh, look at it like this." He hurried back from the edge, then laid down on his stomach, looking right at ground level where the river hit the rocks at the edge and kicked up a spray.

Elise heads over to him. What he was doing wasn't crazy at all to her, though it may seem strange to other people. It made total sense. She drops down to the same level and watches. "Oh..." She smiles wide, looking at the scene before her with excited eyes. "This is perfect!"

"It's a pretty relaxing place to think. I mean, you've got the sound of the water, no one bugging you, the sky is really pretty too. So that may be why," Elise said as she watched the water. Wiggles decided to trot up and jump onto Elise's back, curling into a ball. It's warm here too! Perfect for a nap! Elise laughed. "Wiggles apparently thinks it's a perfect nap spot, too."

He smirked. "Maybe for a fox. I'd wake up and find something crawling on me and freak out right off the cliff, I think." He rolled over onto his side to look at her better. Which, of course, led him to think about the position they were in and turn bright red again.

Elise continued looking out, resting her chin in her hands. "Like Frankie? I still feel pretty bad about him being douchey like he was at the training. He loves to freak people out at the expense of my embarrassment." She turned and looked at him, not seeming to think anything about the position until she saw his face as red as it was. This, in turn, caused her own cheeks to brighten. "U-um..."

"Y-yeah, that... must have been pretty embarrassing," he agreed, shifting to super-lame in his awkward state. God, she's pretty, he thought, which only made him feel even more awkward. "It's okay, though. I mean, no big deal, right? All done with," he babbled, faster than normal, as he started wondering if he needed to find himself an escape path.

"Yeah, definitely! Like...I mean...yeah," She replied, babbling as well. "I guess in the end it's really Frankie that looks like the ass and not me. I mean, even if he is part of me. That's...uh...so weird to think of." She says, trying her best to keep the conversation not awkward. Considering her sputtering a bit, she wasn't doing too well, at least on her end.

"Oh, yeah, you totally didn't look at your ass. I-i mean, look like an ass. I mean-" He broke off, grasping for what he was supposed to have meant, since he really had gotten it right that second time. Instead, he just ended up silent, with a kind of deer-in-headlights look.

Elise nods. "Y-yeah, definitely." Her face turned a bit more red and for a brief moment her eyes began to wander before she quickly turned her head back towards the water. "S-so yeah. Um...OH! Thanks again for the uh...for the henna. You said it was going to last for a bit, right?" More attempts at less awkwardness.

"Yeah, it should," he agreed, and oddly that kind of helped distract him enough that he could talk something resembling normally. "Helps if you put lotion on it every day. So did you still like how it looks? Or did you want to try somewhere else?" And that, of course, made him think of the drawing of it, which made him turn red again...

You've done more than enough between the henna, just being cool, and well," She motions around them. "This. Thanks, Paul." She smiles at him.

He blushed and shrugged. "Well, I mean, what else am I going to do? Homework?" He shook his head, laying back on the ground. "Oh, I know, I could go hang out with that psycho chick with the pink hair. Yeah, that sounds great," he added with a smirk. "But we don't have to if you don't want."
