XU Team Games: Food Fight

Up until recently maintained as a museum, the childhood home of the Braddock family has been pressed into service as additional housing and classroom space for the Institute. Additionally, the increased demands have led to the main ballroom being converted into a cafeteria for both the Institute and those University students on a meal plan. Student reactions have been mixed, and reports of paranormal activity are as of yet unsubstantiated.

Murphy crept towards the Manor with the others. She wasn't shifted yet and was making sure to stay with the other members of her group.

Blaine was peaking out from behind the dessert tray--though if he had seen Murphy, he was giving no sign of it yet.

Alex was itching to get in there... but he was staying behind Murphy, as he was Not In Charge. He was human at the moment, that being the best way to not make a lot of noise while sneaking around.

Murphy nods at Alex. She stands up and is surrounded by half-dozen red orbs.

And that's when she started bombarding the cafeteria with concussive blasts.

"Incoming!" Blaine said, hiding behind a tort.

He pressed a button, and his contraption began, slowly and sputteringly but picking up speed, to throw silverware towards the source of the blasts.

Murphy was hit by a couple of forks and a rogue spoon, but she didn't seem bother as she followed with another volley of concussive arrows to keep the other team pinned down.

"Go!" She shouts to the others.

Vertie doubled over at the noise, but she funneled the fear and disquiet back outwards. "Scary...loud...not safe...run...run...not here....go away..." Her mind and emotions chanted as her sphere of influence began to expand slowly out the doors.

While everyone is hurling things at each other Kay carefully tries to sneak up to the side of the barricade.

Alex shifted to adamantium at the shout, booking it into the room. He picked a different part of the barricade and charged, aiming to smash through it and, incidentally, draw a lot of attention toward himself and not Kay.

Gar took off but halted several feet from the doorway. "Good girl." He rumbled feeling his sister and took off around the building instead, looking for another way in.

Melissa was waiting, skin shimmering to meet Alex's charge. But rather than try to block him out, she went for attempting to redirect his momentum somewhere harmless.

Alex, naturally, went flying through the exit, skidding to a stop with some scuffs to his shiny metallic finish. He looked back up through the entrance with a sort of manic glee. "Oh hell yes, so this is what it's like..." He ran back to the room, ready to mix it up again and TOTALLY not about to get thrown like a big human-shaped wrecking ball all over again.

CLANG. CLANG. CLANG.

Alex looked up, sighing as he shook his head to clear it. Okay, no more running. Warily, he started back into the cafeteria. Looking around, he picked up a decorative potted tree, lifting it over his head as he cautiously rushed in for round three, ready to throw it at their heavy hitter.

With the windows taken out, Murphy broke into a sprint for the building. She shifted into a rather large wolf, sprinting quickly towards one of the back windows, before leaping inside.

Once Murphy hit the floor she would be hit with Vertie's overwhelming focus. The small girl was seated on the floor her hands over her ears and her eyes closed tight. She was a pup, small, scared, helpless and in the middle of this man made mess. Little pup didn't belong in this human place, it wasn't safe. At least that what Vertie was blasting out to any and every animal within a 30 yards of her.

Murphy would also have a banana-cream pie launched at her face, courtesy of Blaine.

Kay would find a red flag easily enough. And another. And another...

...there were significantly more than just three.

Murphy whines pitifully at first, her tailed tucked between her legs and her ears back. There is absolute no split in consciousness between Murphy the human and Murphy the wolf. They are completely integrated into one mind. The result is that there is no chance of Murphy fighting off Vertie's influence.

Then she's hit by a pie. And a terrified, surprised wolf is snarling and running through the room knocking everything over.

Suddenly Murphy would be bowled over and pulled down behind the buffet "Easy, Murphy girl!" Gar worked fast cleaning her muzzle with his shirt. "Shift back and hunt with your head. I've got my sister." His words were a growl, but it wasn't at her.

"That's what they all say," Melissa taunted as she got away from the plant, only to meet Alex's rush out of position. He manages to shove her back several feet before she gets her feet planted and starts pushing back.

Kay changes her mind when she sees all the flags and, hearing Gar try to calm down the rampaging wolf, sets her eyes on Vertie. She makes sure none of the heavy hitters are going to accidentally bowl her over, then she charges at Vertie.

Kay runs up to her and when she's a couple feet away spikes suddenly burst out of her skin and she grabs Vertie's shoulder for a moment, injecting her with the sedative poison her spines give off.

"Tag, you're out." she smiles.

Gar suddenly felt "better", but too suddenly. From behind the buffet there was a true panicked roar and Gar leaped out and bull rushed to Vertie's side, scooping her limp and softly snoring body into his arms. "VERTIE! WHAT DID YOU DO! GET AWAY FROM HER!" He roared at Kay, who was the closest and actually responsible, though the later didn't matter to Gar.

Wait, what the hell? Oh SHIT! Alex, torn, did probably the only 'strategically sound' thing he'd done that day. He went to grab his opponent and try to fling her at Gar.

Granted, it would be more strategically sound if he knew that he actually had the skill to pull that move off. Or if the guy wasn't on his own team.

Gar looming over Kay growling, he took a deep breath and forced himself to focus, his eye moving along her frame to her bandanna then back to her face. He then caught sight of Murphy and huffed loudly. "We still need the flag...." He growled as he gathered Vertie into his arms. In one swift move he tore his bandanna from his wrist with his teeth and dropped it on the floor before bolting out the nearest window and towards the Medical Center.

Melissa let Alex grab her briefly, but as he lifted her, her skin stopped shimmering. She smiled at him. "I remember when I used to be like you," she said just loud enough for him to hear before she hit him with a psi-blast intending to stagger him.

Alex dropped Melissa as he staggered backwards, his brain somewhere between blank and whirling. He tripped over a table, falling with a loud clang as his brain tried unsuccessfully to reassert itself.
