Common Room - A taste of home (open)

Up until recently maintained as a museum, the childhood home of the Braddock family has been pressed into service as additional housing and classroom space for the Institute. Additionally, the increased demands have led to the main ballroom being converted into a cafeteria for both the Institute and those University students on a meal plan. Student reactions have been mixed, and reports of paranormal activity are as of yet unsubstantiated.

Common Room - A taste of home (open)

So the day hadn't gone great for Paul. Power control class was just embarassing, and once again, crazy chicks messing with him. So he decided to treat himself.

About a half hour after class was out, a portal popped up in the common room and he stepped out, carrying a pizza with him. "The hell with cafeterias," he muttered as he sat down, wondering if there was anything good on British TV.

Elise was pretty tired after the class, but she was searching. She had looked around the garden, the cafeteria...almost everywhere. Common Room was the next stop. She peeked inside and saw Paul sitting on the couch. Target acquired. She began to walk in.

Pepperoni, sausage, bacon... can't get a good pizza like this over here... Paul, having a foodgasm, didn't notice the tiny tired girl sneaking up on him. Do they even have real bacon here, or is it like Canada? I'll have to check...

Once she's close enough, she slips something out of her pocket, holding it behind her back with her left hand. With her right hand, she taps him on the shoulder.

Paul jumped at that. Why was he jumpy? Well, it'd just been that kind of week. He looked around, saw Elise, and got a very... suspicious look. "Hi," he said, guardedly.

"Hey." She moved her left hand in front of her now and held out a spi- just kidding.

In her hand was a folded up piece of notebook paper. She offered it to him.

He still looked suspicious, as any boy might when a cute girl randomly comes up and offers him something. But he took it, opening it up to see what it was.

After Paul opens the paper, she just turns and walks away.

Not even going to say anything? I could, you know.
Like hell you will.

Paul unfolded the paper, and... well, who could stay mad at that? But what do you say- oh. Right.

"Hey, um... Do you, uh, want some pizza?" he asked, hoping his face wasn't too red.

"Yeah, I... don't know what I was thinking ordering one this big," he admitted, pointing to the definitely-not-personal-sized pizza. "I... uh... I'm Paul."

"Awww, thank you! I've tried red before but I didn't quite like it. That color totally screams 'angry' to me. I'm gonna try purple when I get bored with this one."

Just what a guy wants to hear; all about your hair. Idiot.
Ah shit.

She quickly changes the subject, reaching over to grab a slice and takes a bite. "Ohhh my gosh." She says with a hand over her mouth in a girly way as she speaks. "Which pizza company is this?"

"I've... never been to New York, so I can't," he admitted, feeling his bragging backfiring and deflating some. "I have to know the place I'm going pretty well. There's only a few places in the States that I know I can go."

"Where all do you explore then? It's gotta be so rad. And what's it like going through a portal? Is it weird?"

You're doing a great job at making yourself look like a dense idiot. I'm proud.

"A little bit?" he said. "I mean, it feels just like walking through a doorway, but it doesn't always line up right. Like... here," he said, pushing his hand at the air in front of them. The air in front of them seemed to split open, and they found themselves looking into a forest. A leaf even blew through at them. But the scene in front of them seemed rotated, like the world was turned on its side, the ground on the left side and the sky on the right, trees growing across side to side.

Of course you would, dumb ass. Gravity.

She quiets a bit and looks embarrassed.
