Sept 4th - Convoluted

[Jennifer Newgate]

Jennifer is wandering around the gardens and is currently standing in front of the entrance to the hedge maze.

[Roland Sackville]

"Worried you'll miss your next class if you go in?" a voice came from behind her.

[Jennifer Newgate]

"Wondering if it'll make a good excuse." she says without turning around.

[Roland Sackville]

"Probably not. I've heard the teachers are sticklers for this sort of thing."

[Jennifer Newgate]

"Aw man..." she says. Turning around she apparently recognizes her history teacher. "Aw man!"

[Roland Sackville]

"I'm afraid so."

[Jennifer Newgate]

"It's not your class this afternoon, is it?"

[Roland Sackville]

"I'm afraid so."

[Jennifer Newgate]

"Aw man! So you always go around and herd your students into class?"

[Roland Sackville]

"I'm afraid so."

[Jennifer Newgate]

"Someone said there's a robot on campus. Is that you?" she asks curiously.

[Roland Sackville]

"What? No. I'm just the history professor."

[Jennifer Newgate]

"Oh. Okay." she says, sounding vaguely disappointed.

"So what's in the middle of the maze? Anything cool?"

[Roland Sackville]

"I don't know. No one's ever been able to get there," Roland deadpanned. "Or, at least, no one's ever come out."

[Jennifer Newgate]

"No way..." she says, clearly wanting to believe that.

[Roland Sackville]

"Seriously. We lost three students two years ago. Never heard from them again."

[Jennifer Newgate]

"Waaiiit... There's people here who fly."

[Roland Sackville]

"Yup. Vortex over the center of some kind. You fly over, you don't fly out."

[Jennifer Newgate]

"You're messing with me..." she says, staring at the air behind and to the side of Roland's head, which is a good indicator that she's trying to read his thoughts to find out.

[Roland Sackville]

Roland's thoughts, being mostly not in modern English, would be hard to decipher.

"Maybe I am...and maybe I'm not."

[Jennifer Newgate]

"Man I hope you're not. That'd be sweet..."

[Roland Sackville]

"Well, maybe you'll have to find out one of these days. Just don't say I never warned you..."

[Jennifer Newgate]

"Wait, warned me? Now I want to find the center more than ever and see where you end up when you disappear.."

[Roland Sackville]

"Though you walk through the valley of the shadow of death..."

[Jennifer Newgate]

"Oh cool, you know Pulp Fiction?"

[Roland Sackville]

"Pulp what?"

[Jennifer Newgate]

"Fiction. The movie. The one that quote's from."

[Roland Sackville]

"I'm sorry, I haven't gone to see any of the recent movies."

[Jennifer Newgate]

"Right... Anyway, I'm just curious. If there's a mysterious Bermuda Triangle I'd want to know what's on the other side. I bet it's something freaky."

[Roland Sackville]

"No sense of self-preservation, then?"

[Jennifer Newgate]

"Maybe nobody's come back because it's so great on the other side, not because something ate them."

[Roland Sackville]

"If you're willing to risk life and limb...do it after class," Roland said, reaching into his pocket for his phone.

[Jennifer Newgate]

"Yeah, yeah, I'm coming, don't worry." she says, keeping her eyes on the maze for a bit even as she turns around to head back to the mansion.

Roland stayed there for a minute, cursing once or twice as he pecked at his phone's keyboard.
