Orientation: What Was Once Lost

Up until recently maintained as a museum, the childhood home of the Braddock family has been pressed into service as additional housing and classroom space for the Institute. Additionally, the increased demands have led to the main ballroom being converted into a cafeteria for both the Institute and those University students on a meal plan. Student reactions have been mixed, and reports of paranormal activity are as of yet unsubstantiated.

"Damn it all, Gemma..." She stopped, knowing full well that a fall like that would seriously be an issue. Not to mention, you know, heights. She closed her eyes tight, not looking down. "Put me down." Her voice was demanding, yet full of fear.

What the hell is that?
Don't know. Care less.
Some sort of... Fire elemental?
Mixed with earth?
Whatever. Contain it.

Victoria walked until she judged she was directly under the magma thing's path, then drew he dagger out of... Well, that still wasn clear. But she drew it. She walked in a wide circle, scoring the earth with the dagger as the sisters had their quality time. "Hmm... That's about as good as it'll get."

She began carving runes into the ground quickly, one at each of the cardinal points, looking up and waiting to make the last stroke until she was beneath the dragon.

While Victoria was working to put a bind of some sort on Gemma, Nailah takes to the air, trying to catch up to them in case binding Gemma leaves Anika to free-fall towards the ground.

"That's quite enough, you two!" the sphinx roars as she comes up alongside the flying dragon.

Gemma hauls up short at the command, flipping her feet forward to fling the motorcycle out towards the water. This puts her directly over Victoria as her head swivels to look hard at Nailah, eyes going wide when she realizes who it is.

Nailah is more concerned about Anika than the motorcycle (and besides, it would probably just drag her down with her) so she can just swoop around and watch it disappear towards the ground.

The chanting was probably lost to anyone not Victoria as she called the Winds of Watoomb. Within the circle (and only within the circle), winds blew up from the ground and crashed down from above, effectively locking the dragon (and her sister) in a grip of air as Victoria floated up more sedately from below.

Opening her eyes, she looks on in horror as her beautiful motorcycle is tossed. "No no no nooooooooo!" She smacks at Gemma's head. "Why did you have to go and do that?" Smacking around the giant draconic woman doesn't seem to bother her at all and she doesn't look worried. Her eyes trail to Naliah and she blinks a few times. She doesn't seem to know who the woman is. "Um...h-" Her words are stopped short as the binding happens and they are locked in place. "ACK!"

"I need everybody to calm down. Victoria is going to pull you back down to the ground and then she may or may not apologize for locking you down so rudely, but I'm sure you understand that a rampaging dragon is something that warranted some intervening."

Victoria finally floated up into hearing range. "Oh, no rampage? I guess I could just let it go, then..."

Her eyes harden on Victoria, as if she believes Vic is actually hurting her sister. "Let her go...she can control it." She says, her eyes flickering with flames.

"It's not a threat. It's a warning. Don't screw with my sister." She states quite plainly, keeping her eyes directly set on Victoria. As far as she's concerned, these people may harm Gemma, and she's not about to let any of that happen, regardless of if her sister basically just beat the crap out of her or not.

Her eye twitches and she looks to Gemma for a few moments as if asking if she's alright. At this point, Anika is in defensive mode with a nice side of pissed off, ready to fling a fireball at the first person who happens to make her snap.

As she listens to Naliah's words, for whatever reason she backs off and believes her. She does, however, look back to Victoria, and the very *slightest* of smirks can be seen. Was it a smirk? Or maybe just a twitch? Who knows...

"Mmm... if you say so, dear." Victoria made a gesture and the winds redirected around Gemma to let her slip free.

Granted, this didn't seem to have freeing Anika along with her in mind.

And Anika is held in the air. Without being released by Victoria, she is stuck there in the air, and none too happy about it. Fire begins to flicker off of her body and swirl around her, the winds of the binding circle causing the flames to circle around her in the beginnings of a pretty fire tornado. At this point there is more anger towards Victoria than fear of the height she's at. She stares straight at Victoria. "Release me."

Victoria mock-pouted. "They were just fighting, apparently. Do we want to be that hasty?" Regardless, the winds started lowering her and Anika down toward the ground.

She seems to relax once she sees Gemma is fine. At this point, her anger hits again after realizing her bike is now demolished and lost. Rubbing her temples, she begins a colorful arrangement of curse words under her breath. She doesn't go and get angry with Gemma. That would only make things worse, she thought.
