Orientation - Stop Me If You've Heard This Before

Having heard bits and pieces of the speech before hand, Miranda was off to one side and not really paying attention to what was being said. She was sitting under a tree and busy with her sketchbook, though she did occasionally glance in the direction of the stage and the assembled crowd.

Vivienne decided that she was not yet ready for groups, but she spotted a lone girl seated on the grass. She left Theresa with a quick explanation of where she was going and walked over to the tree.

"Hello, I am Vivienne." She said stiffly, her right hand thrust out awkwardly towards the other girl.

Miranda tilted her head upwards to 'look' at Vivienne for a moment before holding out her own hand, "Miranda. You're shiny."

She shook Miranda's hand firmly. "I have never told I am shiny before, I...th-appreciate the unique observation." Vivienne added a little nervously, not yet ready to break all old habits. "You have very large wings. There is a tall gentleman over there who also has wings. Is this a common aberration among mortals now?"

Miranda raised an eyebrow at the term "aberration," but let it go. "I wouldn't say it's exactly common. I inherited mine from one of my mothers."

Vivienne's brows tightened. "That is most...uncommon." She looked out in the direction of the sea. "I have my mother's hair. She was greatly known for it."

"I see without the use of my eyes," Miranda said. "The scientists call it 'clairvoyance'. Mom thinks that is sort of silly."

"Yes, apparently people no longer openly arm themselves and the reason is completely backwards and beyond me. I would fear a drawn or hidden blade, but not one within it's scabbard and in full view."

Miranda sighed, "You haven't made a fool of yourself in front of me yet, though if you keep fretting over my mother's opinion that way, you'll get there eventually."

Vivienne took a deep breath and stood tall again. "True, she said she was Headmistress, not The Morrigan. I am a student and nothing has to make sense, I simply must learn and adapt."

Miranda grows a bit distant as if looking intently at something. "One of the new university students..." She snaps her fingers several times as she tries to recall the name, "Lana, Jenna, Gemma? Something like that."

"Then...the other winged creature with the cat's legs is your mother." She left Caledfwlch's hilt uncovered but did not draw it out. "She seems to be attempting to calm the beast...the young woman. Is your mother immune to fire as well?"
