During Orientation: Miranda/Maya's Room

[Maya Mills]

Maya smiles, "When you're not plotting to break into rooms, what do you do for fun?"

[Jennifer Newgate]

"Oh I'd never break into any rooms. I like to watch movies and I read a lot."

[Maya Mills]

"What do you read?" Maya asks, sounding curious.

[Jennifer Newgate]

"Oh, horror stuff mostly. Like King or Harris. That kinda stuff."

[Maya Mills]

Maya shivers, "Yeah, that stuff gives me nightmares."

[Jennifer Newgate]

"Exactly! It's pretty cool..."

[Maya Mills]

"Do you mind if I ask why you came here?"

[Jennifer Newgate]

"Cause everyone in the US is freaking out. And other peoples' thoughts are kinda annoying sometimes and it said that they teach you about that kinda stuff here."

[Maya Mills]

"Those are all pretty good reasons."

[Jennifer Newgate]

"How about you?"

[Maya Mills]

"Not a whole lot of choices for me," Maya says. "There aren't many facilities that are willing to handle mutants with brain junk. Xavier's one of the nicer ones."

[Jennifer Newgate]

"And you think they can un-junk your stuff here?"

[Maya Mills]

"No, that's permanent. Just gotta live with it," Maya says. "But it will let me figure out my mutant stuff, which will help. I hope."

[Jennifer Newgate]

"What's your mutant stuff?"

[Maya Mills]

"Vaporous transfiguration," Maya says. "I can turn into this smoke stuff."

[Jennifer Newgate]

"Wild. Can I see?"

[Maya Mills]

"Ummm, not really," Maya admits. "I can't control it. Like, at all."

[Jennifer Newgate]

"Oh. Okay. That's alright then."

[Maya Mills]

"Sorry," Maya says. She felt pretty bad. She looked down at her hands and frowned. Maybe...

And that's when both of her hands disappeared into a puff of smoke.

"Crab biscuits!"

[Jennifer Newgate]

"Whoa... That is wild." she says, carefully swishing her hand through the smoke.

[Maya Mills]

"Please, please, please, please," Maya begs under her breath. The smoke swirls around Jennifer for a moment before it makes its way back towards Maya and reforms into her hands.

"Oh, thank god."

[Jennifer Newgate]

"That was crazy." she says, looking at her hand and back Maya's. "What does it feel like?"

[Maya Mills]

"I don't know. It's...it's weird. It's feels weird. It's like you're suddenly spread out all across the place at once."

Maya clenches her hands tightly.

[Jennifer Newgate]

"Cool." she exclaims and lets herself fall backwards onto one of the beds with her arms spread. "I bet it'd be awesome just to float over the landscape. Like in a dream."

[Maya Mills]

"I'd probably get sucked into a jet engine or blown out over the Atlantic," Maya says.

[Jennifer Newgate]

"Yeah, but you'd be floating like a cloud so you'd be alright. I bet it's super zen, isn't it?" she asks, her head craned back over the edge of the bed as she looks at Maya.

[Maya Mills]

"It's mostly just terrifying," Maya says. She sits down in a chair after checking to make sure that the legs are stable and free of any damage. "I mean, don't you get scared from hearing what people think all the time? What if you hear the wrong thing? Like, what if you hear someone remembering the time they murdered someone?"

[Jennifer Newgate]

"I dunno... I'd probably call the police or something. And wouldn't it be scarier to be around a murderer if you didn't know he killed somebody?"

[Maya Mills]

"No. That's every day. Potentially," Maya argues. "Besides, what if he hears you in his head and comes after you? And he ties you down and cuts off little bits at a time so he can have a nice snack every now and then?"

Maya was looking a bit queasy again.

[Jennifer Newgate]

"That'd probably suck. But it makes for a great urban legend."

[Maya Mills]

"I guess that's one way to live forever."

[Jennifer Newgate]

"And her ghost still haunts this place to this day, trying to find all the bits and pieces of her body to stitch them back together..." she says, wriggling her fingers to emphasize how spooky it is.

[Maya Mills]

Maya laughs, "...and stealing them from anyone who hears this story, right?"

[Jennifer Newgate]

"Yesss. Unless you tell the story to somebody else within a week." she chuckles faintly. This is the most lively Jennifer has been all day.

[Maya Mills]

"Well, I told you, so I'm safe."

She was still probably going to tell someone else. Just in case.

[Jennifer Newgate]

"The ghost needs a name though. Like The Gibblet Gatherer or the Piecemeal Girl."

[Miranda Weaver]

The other side of the room was not messy by any means, but it was not as organized as Maya's. One corner had a small shrine with hand-drawn art in both Egyptian and Greek styles. The other desk had pictures of a girl with a fish mutation attached to them as well as a few pictures of the fish girl with the girl with the blindfold that they had met at the refreshment table. There were also some pictures of the Headmistress and a woman with sphinx-like qualities. The desk seemed to have art supplies on it and the desk chair was of a strange construction, possibly to accommodate wings.

[Maya Mills]

"I like 'Piecemeal Girl'," Maya says. "It has a double-meaning, y'know?"

Maya tried to always keep her back turned on Miranda's side of the room. It kept her from moving and touching things that weren't hers, which would be inexcusably rude.

[Jennifer Newgate]

"It does?"

[Maya Mills]

"'Cause she was eaten," Maya explains. "It's like a pun."

Maya likes puns.
