I13DT - Will You Be Home For Christmas?

[Miranda Weaver]

Miranda knocked quietly on Kay's door. She was nearly vibrating with excitement.

[Kay Haddock]

"Who's there?"

[Miranda Weaver]

"It's Miranda. I can come back if you're busy."

[Kay Haddock]

"Oh, no, come in!" she says, the door opening a second later.

[Miranda Weaver]

Miranda let herself in, closing the door almost as soon as she'd gotten into the room. "I've got big time news. Are you going to be staying here for Christmas?"

[Kay Haddock]

"Uh, yeah, I don't think my parents want to buy me a plane ticket. Or for me to be there period..." she says, feeling bad but not wanting to complain too much seeing how Miranda doesn't even have parents, as far as she's aware.

[Miranda Weaver]

"Want to spend it with me and my parents?"

[Kay Haddock]

"I dunno, that... Wait, your parents!?" she says, almost immediately snapping out of her mopey mood. "They found your parents?"

[Miranda Weaver]

Miranda actually bounced a little and talked fast. "Yeah... well... sort of... it's complicated. I'm not sure I understand it all."

[Kay Haddock]

Kay grabs Miranda's hands and starts bouncing too. "That's awesome! I'm so happy for you!"

[Miranda Weaver]

"So it turns out that the Headmistress and Professor Weaver are my parents. Well... not literally, because Professor Weaver wasn't actually pregnant with me, but X-Corp said genetically I'm their child and they're looking after me." All of this came out at high velocity.

[Kay Haddock]

That manages to make Kay freeze. "The Headmistress is your mom!? Wait, Professor Weaver? How does that even... I mean... What?"

[Miranda Weaver]

"I don't know. But they say that's what the tests showed. And I don't think they would lie to me."

[Kay Haddock]

"Well... that's great!" she says, recovering some of her enthusiasm for Miranda's good news. "I'm really happy for you."

[Miranda Weaver]

"So do you want to spend Christmas with us? We're going to be going to London to see the big tree light up and stuff."

[Kay Haddock]

"Are... you sure? I mean this is your first Christmas with them and all. I wouldn't wanna get in the way..."

[Miranda Weaver]

"You won't be in the way. They said I could ask you! So say yes. Please?"

[Kay Haddock]

"Of course I wanna!" she smiles. "Your parents are just... they're kinda scary." she adds sheepishly.

[Miranda Weaver]

"Oh, I know they can be. You just have to get to know them."

[Kay Haddock]

""Okay." she smiles. "I'm so happy you'll get to have a proper Christmas!"

[Miranda Weaver]

"Now, I just need to get them something. I've got an idea but I need some help."

[Kay Haddock]

"Christmas Elf, at your service!" Kay says and mock salutes.

[Miranda Weaver]

"I've got this sketched idea, but I need to make it bigger than then I need some help doing the colors on it."

[Kay Haddock]

"I can totally do that." she nods.

[Miranda Weaver]

"We need to go to Maldon to get some stuff I'm sure."

[Kay Haddock]

"Christmas shopping!" she beams. "I still need to buy a couple presents for people too."

[Miranda Weaver]

"Cool! We should go soon."

[Kay Haddock]

"Yeah. This Saturday maybe?"

[Miranda Weaver]

"Sure. Maybe we can watch another movie after we get back?"

[Kay Haddock]

"For sure!" she beams.
