On Will's desk lay the Samantha McManus action figure. It had been opened with an exacto knife and carefully closed again.

Will's front desk drawer was locked.

Nailah steps into the room, because why bother knocking if you know it's empty.

A note was on top of the action figure.

Had to run to a training session.  Do what you need to do, but don't break my action figure, please!

"What does he think this is going to involve?" she mumbles to herself as she picks up the package.

The little inset card on the back gave a fictionalized backstory for Samantha McManus!

It was very hokey, and involved lots of alliteration.

The plastic figure itself was very cheap--not very many points of articulation. It didn't even have kung-fu grip!

"Really? Complete with team communicator? For the telepath? They could have at least put a little raven or three in there..."

The bidding to make the action figure had clearly gone to the lowest bidder.
