The headmistress was in the process of finding out what the holdup was with Will's visa. She was presently awaiting word from the consulate as to her inquiries.

There's nothing quite as soul-draining as being on hold, but eventually, Sam got through to someone.

"Yes, this is the Home Office, Agent Lowe speaking, and how can I assist you today? I remind you that your call may be recorded for training purposes."

[Samantha McManus]

"Yes, there seems to have been a mix-up with the visa of one of our students. William Stanton?"

[Narrator]

"Hrm. Let me check..."

"Hrm. The Visa number you gave me doesn't correspond to a 'William Stanton.' Are you sure it's correct?"

[Samantha McManus]

"Absolutely. He's been attending here for some time. This was just a renewal."

[Narrator]

"I'm sorry, I'm going to have to put you on hold."

"This is Agent Costello. The Visa number you gave us seems to be for a 'Frank Blind'. We don't seem to have any record of a William Stanton. Could he have some sort of alias -- some sort of other name I should be looking for?"

[Samantha McManus]

"Not legally, no. I have copies of his previous visa paperwork here. This is absolutely the name it was under. I can have them e-mailed or faxed immediately."

[Narrator]

"Well, go ahead and e-mail them to me here, and I'll take a look, but I'm afraid we have no records of this. You're positive it was a student visa?"

[Samantha McManus]

"Absolutely positive. We need this resolved as soon as possible," she said as she sent the needed documents.

[Narrator]

"Hrm. I mean, this all looks legit, but as I said, all the numbers do not align properly. Hold on one moment..."

Hold times are brutal, and this one took nearly an hour.

"...Ms. McManus, was it? This is Agent Parker. You're positive these are the original documents?"

[Samantha McManus]

"Our records are rather thorough. Most of our students are foreign."

[Narrator]

"Our records are rather thorough as well, Ms. McManus, and I've just spoken with the US embassy. That passport number you provided doesn't belong to William Stanton, but to a Cory O'Sullivan."

[Samantha McManus]

"There has to be a mistake. These same documents were more than sufficient in past years for him."

[Narrator]

"I'm sorry, but with the documentation you've provided, I can't in good conscience hand out a visa. I suspect there may be fraud here, and my advice would be to cut ties with the student as soon as possible."

[Samantha McManus]

"If this can't be resolved amicably with the documentation provided, you can expect to hear from X-Corporation's legal team."

[Narrator]

"Please hold."

"Home Department, Legal Department, Agent Run speaking. I understand your position, ma'am, but try to see it from our perspective."

"Try to see it from my perspective. This student is one of our best. He was recently targeted by a disavowed covert operation of the British government. Allow me to be a bit skeptical when all his paperwork comes in pear-shaped after such an incident."

[Narrator]

"A disavowed what? Is this some sort of prank call?"

[Samantha McManus]

"I can send you exhaustive documentation on that as well. We've had SHIELD involved in this."

[Narrator]

"Well, then I'm afraid any action on our part will have to wait until the investigation is complete. Legally, we can not interfere with an ongoing investigation of any sort.

And even if we could, the fact remains that your student there has never been issued a Visa by this department, and apparently has been using a false passport. That's a problem for the US State Department, not us."

[Samantha McManus]

"If this is the can of worms you want to open, feel free. Just be aware that once X-Corporation's lawyers and SHIELD are involved, there are going to be some very difficult questions tossed your way."

[Narrator]

"I assure you, Ms. McManus, our documentation is in order. I would spend some time checking yours."

[Samantha McManus]

"Expect an injunction filed shortly."

[Narrator]

With a resigned sigh, the lawyer finishes the call.
