Zero

Postby Zero » Fri Feb 27, 2009 9:06 pm

Name: Zero

Age: Assumed to be around 19.

Power: Zero is a shape shifter with the ability to assume the form of any person. It has to have been of a person that Zero has been within a hundred yards of before and it has to be of an actual person. No animals or aliens or the like. Only humans. Zero has to be aware of the person to copy them.

While taking on a person’s form, Zero can only use their physical abilities. For example, if Zero assumed the form of Ryan, Zero would be able to fly but not use any of his energy powers.

If rendered unconscious, Zero reverts to the default form described in the description.

Description: Zero’s default form has grayish-lavender skin, pointed ears, and black horns coming from the side of the skull. Zero stands at around 5’11” with a lean, athletic build. While in this default form, Zero has no apparent gender.

Background: Zero’s first memory is of a fire. She woke up in the midst of some sort of accident, a blazing wreck with bodies all around her. Wandering around in a daze Zero was found by some emergency workers and taken to a hospital. While recuperating, Zero realized that he had no idea who she was or where he’d come from. Even her appearance seemed to be in flux, constantly shifting into some of the people he’d seen in the accident.

Then the police came asking questions about the accident. They seemed eager to pin the whole thing on the only survivor who was displaying signs of mutant abilities. Scared, Zero ran from the hospital and never really stopped.

After a bit, Zero’s abilities seemed to stabilize. She discovered his default form and how to roughly control her abilities. Not knowing his name, she named himself “Zero”.

Over time, Zero became something of a con artist. Zero would use the ability to impersonate people to take the place of missing persons for various lengths of time, usually faking amnesia or traumatic injury in order to explain away gaps in memory.

Then, one day while impersonating a teenage girl, the people Zero was staying with were approached by the University of Tomorrow. They told them that their daughter was a mutant and that’d it’d be for the best if she learned how to use her abilities. Intrigued, Zero followed along with the whole thing and was shipped off to the school.

Her deception lasted for all of a day when she was easily discovered by the Headmistress herself. Expecting to be expelled and arrested, Zero tried to make an escape but was instead caught and offered a permanent place at the school and a full scholarship.

Though the University of Tommorow has made several investigations into Zero’s origins, nothing seems to have come of it and Zero’s real name, origins, and even gender remain unknown to this day.

Zero just recently graduated from the University of Tomorrow and applied for Xavier’s with the intent of joining the X-Teams and maybe, just maybe, finding out who she really is.

How many people can Zero 'store in memory'? Can she copy any person he's ever been nearby and known was there? Its it just based on his general ability to remember people, so she'll have some mistakes on people she hasn't seen for a while? Or does the ability to turn into a specific person vanish after he's not been around them for a while?

I was thinking that Zero can copy any person that she's been within 100 yards of who he can recall from memory. If that's too powerful, I can put a time limit until she needs to get near that person again.

As long as her memory isn't infinite and perfect, that's fine with me. Obviously, his memory will be MUCH better for remembering people's forms than most, allowing for a good copy even after some time has passed, but there should be some degredation or forgetting of people she took little notice of, and only saw long ago.

People who made a big impression can stick around perfectly or nearly perfectly in his memory forever as far as I'm concerned, that's no problem.

If Jacob bows out for time, I think rooming with Merle would be more than interesting RP fodder. :)
