Bearfast

Up until recently maintained as a museum, the childhood home of the Braddock family has been pressed into service as additional housing and classroom space for the Institute. Additionally, the increased demands have led to the main ballroom being converted into a cafeteria for both the Institute and those University students on a meal plan. Student reactions have been mixed, and reports of paranormal activity are as of yet unsubstantiated.

Bearfast

Postby Mary Ann London » Thu Mar 28, 2013 9:45 am

Mary Ann settled down with her tray, rubbing sleepily at her eyes before inhaling deeply from her steaming mug of coffee. She blinked and then took a sip, grimacing. She raided (and it really did look like a raid) the condiments table, trying to find some honey, but had to settle for sugar instead. She poured it into the coffee liberally before settling back down.

"Aren't bears supposed to use honey?" Steph asked with a friendly smile as she passed her student, her tray comically full of food.

"Mind if I join you? I know eating with your power control teacher probably isnt at the very top of your list of things that you want to do, but I wanted to chat with a fellow shifter. ...and I've got a good idea where I can score some honey,"

Steph smiled, "I guess I can let it slide...my other half seems to like it when I use more colorful language. And I'll get the honey."

Steph set down her tray, left and returned a moment later with a large jar of honey and a spoon.

"How are you adjusting to it here?"

While she was gone, Mary Ann had retrieved a fresh cup of coffee. She spooned some honey into it before answering, "I'm adjusting. The flashes of smell are irritating in close quarters."

"You're tired of hearing this....but you do get used to it," she smiled.

"You'll also get used to waking up naked in strange places. And weird urges. And destroying your favorite pants."

"Yeah. I've learned to not play favorites with my wardrobe," she said. "And the urges I just sort of roll with. The sleep one is the hard one."

"Honestly? It helps. Getting in touch with your other half by just spending time with her? It's good. Now...check with me or another teacher before you do that, and maybe let folks know." She cautioned.

"We can make you a big cardboard sign," she added after swallowing a mouthful of omelette, a mischievous smirk on her face

"Not so out of control, but the urges are hard to ignore. Never really been angry when I was a bear though, so that might change things a bit. Thinking's definitely harder."

"Always will be. That gets better too. Or at least you adapt to it better," she nodded.

"Before you wander the grounds, I'd definitely practice on your own in the Danger Room."

"Wandering without enough practice is how I became friends with Mr. Gabriel," she smirked. "Though I wasn't even a wolf when that started....anyway. Long story short, since I cant remember if you were here yet when I told it in class, I nearly killed him after I had a power accident, and it's a good thing he can fly quickly and defend himself well."

"It's...well it's not too different from high school. A lot more choice, freedom, and responsibility. It's nice having a much better handle on your powers. Other than that...the work is harder and the papers are much longer."

"Being on the X-Teams is also an option. A lot of work...dangerous...but we do a lot of good for the world."

"My boyfriend and a bunch of his friends then decided to pick a fight when he was back from Xavier's on fall break. I didn't stop him...until mid fight I shifted. So. Luckily he was a good enough guy that he could forgive me for being so awful to him. He goes here now, actually. Still good friends. So....thankfully, I'm a better person now."
