Breakfast of Champions

[Aisha Khan]

At a table, tucked in one corner of the cafeteria, a spoon was floating up, and listlessly poking a bowl of oatmeal. Presumably Aisha was eating breakfast.

[Calvin Strong]

"Hey there," Cal said, as usual hauling a full backpack that more than likely had no books or notebooks at all in it. "The food underwhelming as usual today?" he asked as he set his own tray down.

[Aisha Khan]

"I'm just not hungry." Aisha replied

[Calvin Strong]

"I'm supposed to make some sort of 'most important meal of the day' comment right now, aren't I?" Cal asked, cutting his sausage up. He took a bite, letting that comment hang for a moment. "So what's really wrong?"

[Aisha Khan]

"Nothing." Aisha said "I'm just tired of being a freak."

[Calvin Strong]

"Something happen?" Cal asked, trying to buy time. He had the feeling that he needed to do SOMETHING to make her feel better, but what could he do?

[Aisha Khan]

"Just a lot of little stuff." Aisha said "Mostly thinking that people can see my clothes, and then finding out I've messed up and gone invisible."

[Calvin Strong]

"Hey, at least they can see your clothes now, right?" Cal said. "Pretty soon you'll have it down and you won't need to hang around with me anymore."

[Aisha Khan]

"Not right now." Aisha said "It took me forever to get my food."

[Calvin Strong]

"Well, at least you can do it, right?" he said, grasping at whatever he could use. "I mean, it's getting better. So you'll be able to be one of the cool kids again pretty soon."

[Aisha Khan]

"Yeah, I guess." Aisha said "Its either that or become a supervillain."

[Calvin Strong]

"Pfff, please, you won't even let me keep my lawsuit money, you wouldn't make a good supervillian."

[Aisha Khan]

"What if I'm a vigilante who only punishes the evil?"

[Calvin Strong]

"It depends," Cal admitted, thinking about it.

[Aisha Khan]

"Y'know, like Batman, or Rorschach." Aisha continued "It might be my only option."

[Calvin Strong]

"Or Catwoman?" Cal suggested, fighting back a smirk without much success.

[Aisha Khan]

"She's a jewel thief." Aisha pointed out.

[Calvin Strong]

"She goes back and forth," he countered. "Swings both ways! And... I should quit before I'm too far behind, shouldn't I."

[Aisha Khan]

"yes, you probably should." Aisha said "Unless you want a stern transatlantic call from my Daddy."

[Calvin Strong]

"Riiiight, because I'm such a threat," Cal said with a smirk.

[Aisha Khan]

"Well, that and you're scared of your girlfriend."

[Calvin Strong]

Cal just rolled his eyes at that. "Yeah, right. Girlfriend."

[Aisha Khan]

"Yeah, yeah, ok, I know. Totally not serious." Aisha said, rolling her eyes.

[Calvin Strong]

"Well, as soon as there's some hot or buff guy around, I'm being introduced as her friend, so... yeah."

[Aisha Khan]

"Have you talked to her?"

[Calvin Strong]

Cal scoffed. "About what? I've known her for what, a week? It is what it is."
