Port 80 Access

Postby ASHLIE » Sun Oct 21, 2012 12:54 pm

There is a huge datastream going through the school's network, accessing the internet in the dead of the night, presumably to avoid bottlenecking others. Anyone having encountered it before would recognize Ashlie's signature in the seemingly garbled mess of code. Anyone bothering to take a closer look would notice the only coherent data to be found would be what Ashlie is reading, which is lots and lots of psychological studies and other musings on behaviour and the human condition.

I don't know much about what happened to it, other than that it became a threat.  I  do understand their fear of history repeating itself.  However, I don't believe their issue is with you specifically.  It's just that there are boundaries between man and machine that make the former nervous.  The majority of human decisions are not made on logic alone, thus those based purely on logic often offend moral sensibilities.  Even then, what really scares them in these situations is that the rules of mechanical logic can be altered and even the most benign AI can become a danger if that happens.  Especially in a system of that one's scope.

Learning how to be a little more human might help assuage those fears, but I can't say how effectively.
