Plume Library

Though many students might prefer going to London, Maldon provides closer amenities for those without a car or unwilling to pay for a cab. Several pubs are available, though the Rose and Crown is notable for having been where Excalibur spent a good deal of their downtime. Also of note is the Plume Library, home to many rare books.

Plume Library

Roland was browsing the shelves with a cart, which was already about half-full.

He flipped through some books, apparently at random, putting some back on the shelves, and placing some more on the cart.

Roland backed up an old Trabant to the door of the library, and began loading it up.

"Hello, Professor," Elena said, approaching the car. Seeing the pile of books, she asked, "Do you need some help?"

Roland looked up for a minute, debating.

"...sure. Sure, I could use some help."

The books were a mishmash of history and literature -- copies of the Arabian Nights and Roman myths, books on World War II and the historical war of Troy, and everything in between.

"A diverse selection," Elena commented as she started helping him load them, taking care to set them gently into the trunk.

"Diverse, yes -- just...a random selection."

Elena glanced at the books as she put them in the trunk. "Quite a bit about war and myth, but then given history, it would be hard not to cover a lot of that."

"Right! A lot of crossover between them. Important to distinguish the history from the myth and vice versa. Could be a course in that, now that I'm thinking..."

"I'll speak with the headmistress about that. Yes...the headmistress. That would work..."

"I would assume she would be the one to talk to." She gestured to the books, "A little light reading or did you already have that course in mind?"

"I...the course. Yes, the course. That's what I was planning. It will....it's research. Research for the course."
