Not the Partying Type

[Hannah Murphy]

Murphy stretched out on the lawn a little ways away from the garden party. She wasn't one for large groups, but she still planned on enjoying the day with everyone else. In her own way.

[Janice Gilbertson]

"Thought I'd find you out here," Janice said, bringing a glass of punch over.

"Didn't like the crowd, huh?"

[Hannah Murphy]

"Noisy," Murphy says, smiling up at Janice, "Fun though."

[Janice Gilbertson]

"You really think they're back?"

[Hannah Murphy]

Murphy shrugs.

"We'll know soon."

[Janice Gilbertson]

"It seems weird, after so long..."

"...and I wonder if Mira is with them."

[Hannah Murphy]

"Miss them?" Murphy asks.

[Janice Gilbertson]

"Mira most of all, but... God, even seeing Kevin again would be nice."

[Hannah Murphy]

Murphy nods, "Worried too."

"Wish I could've helped her."

[Samantha McManus]

"I don't... I don't even know. I tried to talk to her and... she was just so angry."

[Hannah Murphy]

"Should've bit her nose," Murphy says, trying to be a little lighthearted but sounding a bit sad.

[Janice Gilbertson]

"That's your answer to everything."

[Hannah Murphy]

Murphy sits up and hugs Janice's leg.

"Gonna be okay."

[Janice Gilbertson]

"...I hope."

"At least Will is in better spirits. It hit him really hard, when they were lost."

[Hannah Murphy]

"Probably why he's so happy."

[Janice Gilbertson]

"Yeah. He's got... well, a really serious head for this team leader business."

[Hannah Murphy]

"Too serious?" Murphy asks.

[Janice Gilbertson]

"Well it's kind of... I know where he's coming from. I don't like failing people either."

[Hannah Murphy]

"Sometimes things just go wrong," Murphy says, "Nothing you can do."

[Janice Gilbertson]

"Doesn't always feel that way. Really didn't when I was trying to hold that damned bubble together in space."

[Hannah Murphy]

Murphy gives Janice a concerned look, "Did everything you could."

[Janice Gilbertson]

"Yeah... still feels better they actually lived."

[Hannah Murphy]

Murphy nods.

[Janice Gilbertson]

"You think we'll ever get used to this?"

[Hannah Murphy]

"To what?"

[Janice Gilbertson]

"All of this. The superhero stuff."

[Hannah Murphy]

Murphy considers, "...Hope not."

"Getting used to it seems like the first step to going numb."

[Janice Gilbertson]

"I don't know. I just kind of... want to feel like I know what I'm doing, you know?"

[Hannah Murphy]

"Training," Murphy agrees, "Want help?"

[Janice Gilbertson]

"Maybe," she smiled.

"Best I don't put my togs on for that, you think?"

[Hannah Murphy]

"Might be bad for that secret identity," Murphy teases.

[Janice Gilbertson]

"Yeah well, I'm kind of a creampuff like this."

[Hannah Murphy]

"Could toughen you up," Murphy says, grinning a bit.
