I8DT - The Boring Part

[Sara Stanton]

It's relatively late and Sara is still sitting in the Mutant Studies lab, working on compiling and analyzing the data she and Will gathered.

[Stan Bowen]

"Sara, go home. Will, despite being able to become anything, is probably bored to tears without you."

Smiling, Stan moved to his office, picking up a few personal items.

[Sara Stanton]

"Oh! Doctor Bowen. I know... But I'm really on to something right now."

[Stan Bowen]

"Oh?" Stan replied, walking over and taking a look.

[Sara Stanton]

"Oh just a side-project. You know how Will always wants to know more about himself."

[Stan Bowen]

Stan smirked and nodded, knowing all too well.

"So, some more data collection on pushing his abilities?"

[Sara Stanton]

"Kinda. We gathered some data on the nerve signals that happen when he shifts into different things and they vary! I'm just trying to work the raw data into actual signal patterns now."

[Stan Bowen]

"Interesting.." Stan noted, quickly scanning over the data.

"Do you have any Theories?"

[Sara Stanton]

"Well I figured if I could get these worked out then I could prove it by applying a corresponding current-pattern to his clay and show that shapeshifters do follow some basic biological rules."

[Stan Bowen]

Stan nodded, smiling.

"Excellent, excellent!"

[Sara Stanton]

"And it still requires him to get zapped and poked so he's happy." she chuckles.

[Stan Bowen]

"at the very least, it would help him recognize the various electrical stimuli, and build up an internal defense against them.."

[Sara Stanton]

"I hadn't even thought of that... I'm just trying to help him understand, well, himself."

[Stan Bowen]

"And you are doing an excellent job. and extending the understandings of mutant studies in the process."

[Sara Stanton]

"Thanks, Doctor. Though I dunno if it's that important."

[Stan Bowen]

"Every bit of new research is important. Anything to further our understanding, and all that."

[Sara Stanton]

"That's true."

[Stan Bowen]

"So, think you are about ready to put all this down into a paper?"

[Sara Stanton]

"What, you mean, like, publish it?" she asks, a little bewildered.

[Stan Bowen]

Stan nodded.

"Sara, you are one of the best researchers in the university, bar none. and this sort of study needs to be spread to your peers. everyone in your position eventually publishes, might as well start now."

[Sara Stanton]

"But I don't... I mean... I've never written as much as an abstract..."

[Stan Bowen]

"I can help with that. There is no rush.. I just think getting your feet wet will help immensely. why not set a goal to write up a summary, and let me check it over in a few months?

[Sara Stanton]

"That sounds like I have some homework for the summer." she chuckles.

[Stan Bowen]

"Don't we all," Stan agreed, chuckling.

[Sara Stanton]

"Guess it can't hurt to give it a shot." she says, trying not to get overly excited about something that might not even happen.

[Stan Bowen]

"Every researcher starts with a summary, Sara. You'll do fine."

[Sara Stanton]

"Well, be ready to get a bunch of emails over the summer." she chuckles.

[Stan Bowen]

"i'd be worried if I wasn't." he replied, winking.
