[Nathaniel Davis]

Nate waited patiently in the X-Corp lobby, although he had considering starting the interrogation without Madison. But this was her gig, not his, so he'd decided to wait.

[Madison West]

Madison appears next to Nate, "Sorry. Did I keep you waiting?"

[Nathaniel Davis]

"Not at all," Nate said, ushering her into a more secure part of the facility. Soon they were in a room, looking at the subject through one-way glass.

[Narrator]

Behind the glass, a thin man with very short black hair and glasses sat wearing the prison orange. He kept his eyes on the table and his expression neutral.

[Madison West]

"How do you want to handle this?" Madison asks.

[Nathaniel Davis]

"Well, we can either go honey or vinegar," Nate said, looking at the guy. "I can probably get him moved into something more comfortable if he cooperates. Or we can threaten to turn him loose and spread the word that he's been talking." He paused, "Although both those approaches are really cliche."

[Madison West]

"Effective though," Madison says, "You take point on this one, Nate. I'll follow your lead."

[Nathaniel Davis]

Nate nodded and opened the door for her, letting her enter the room first.

[Narrator]

The man looks up at Nate and Madison, keeping his expression very tightly controlled.

According to his file, The man was Heinrich von Stahl, an American born scientist. His family had immigrated from Germany before he was born. He was a well educated physicist, though not a very well known or prestigious one.

About ten years ago, he'd dropped off the map. Resurfacing only during the X-Corp raid that landed him in prison.

"Good morning, Heinrich. Can I call you Heinrich?"

[Narrator]

"I don't suppose I have much of a choice," Heinrich says.

[Nathaniel Davis]

"Well, you do have something of a choice. Given where we found you, there are any number of other things I could, maybe even should, call you. But you help me, and I can help you. Now," he tossed a folder on the table, one with information in it about Jane. "Tell us what you know about her."

[Narrator]

Heinrich glances at the folder, before folding his hands in front of him.

"No deal. Are we done?"

[Nathaniel Davis]

"I suggest you take a closer look at it," Nate said, his eyes growing hard. "Before I have to turn my telepath loose on you."

[Narrator]

"The carrot and the stick," Heinrich says, chuckling, "We used a similar method on our subjects, you know."

[Nathaniel Davis]

"Here's the difference. When someone helps me out, I don't toss them a doggy treat. I do genuinely nice things for them, like get them moved to a facility somewhere sunny." He paused, "Even though they don't really deserve it."

[Narrator]

"I'd prefer information," Heinrich says, "Why are you interested in a dead subject?"

"I imagine the answer must be fascinating."

[Nathaniel Davis]

"But that would be telling," Nate said, "So what do you know about what was done to her?"
