I8: Fight or Flight? What's Flight?

Postby Nathaniel Davis » Thu Sep 29, 2011 3:19 pm

Nate took a moment to retrieve a couple of forearm knife sheaths and a couple for his lower leg, strapping them in place on his half-form self. He then set up the system, a suburban neighborhood house surrounded by human-sized robots, apparently guarding the house. "Objective is to get into the house, rescue the people inside, and trash as many robots as feels good in the process. Sound good?"

Murphy nods, shifting herself into a half-form as well.

Nate smiled and crouched low as the scenario started. The robots were apparently making slow patrols around the house and through the windows, movement indicated that there were more in the house. Since this was more for Hannah's benefit than his, Nate let her make the first move.

Even though Murphy was itching for a fight, she knew better then to just start trashing robots. She took a deep breath and then slid into the shadows, trying to close enough to see inside the windows without alerting the patrols.

"Good girl," Nate muttered to himself, disappearing into the undergrowth.

The robots outside seemed to be functioning in groups of two, with a pair on each side of the house at all times. Through the large bay window of what was probably the living room, three robots could be seen holding a more or less stationary position. As they watched, one robot briefly appeared in a kitchen window and at least one robot was seen in a large window upstairs.

Murphy closes her eyes and focuses on her ears, trying to get a better sense of where the hostages are.

She could hear non-footstep thumping coming from the upstairs room with the large window. It was possibly several different instances, but from outside it was hard to tell, especially with the thumping of the robots' footsteps.

Murphy thinks for a moment before rounding around towards the back of the house, taking care to stay out of sight.

Nate trailed after her, keeping low and taking care to stay out of sight as well. From the bushes behind the house, they could see the back door which looked like it led into the kitchen. There were also windows for several upstairs rooms and what looked like vents for an attic.

Murphy let's out a snort and charges, claws extended as she rushes one of the robots guarding the back.

The first robot takes the charge hard, Hannah's momentum almost slamming it into the back of the house. The other robot in the patrol moves to grab Hannah in an attempt to pull her off the first robot. Nate scuttles to the corner of the house where the next patrol will be coming from, waiting in the shadows as he draws the knives strapped to his forearms.

Hannah turns quickly to the attacker and holds her hand up to it as it tries to grab her, sending a bolt of concussive force at it from point blank range.

The robot's chest cavity caved in with a sparking hiss as the robot went flying. The other robot struggled to get up, its hands crackling with electricity as it tried to make contact with Hannah. As the next patrol came around the corner, Nate was ready, driving his knives into joints in their face plates. There was a sparking snap and the robots suddenly moved around aimlessly in apparent confusion. "Thought it was that model," Nate muttered.

Getting electrocuted wasn't pleasant. Hannah thrashed for a moment in pain before slamming both hands into the sides of the robots skull and with a growl attempting to twist it's head clean off it's shoulders.

That wasn't particularly difficult. The face plate on the head seemed to be made of some sort of plastic shield which cracked with the force of the slam. The head then ripped free of the body, taking cables and associated sparks with it. The body tottered for a second become coming to a stop. Nate ripped his knives free, leaving the robots to wander around aimlessly. He darted back down the side of the house, making for the back door.

Nate glanced through the window in the backdoor. "Count two in the kitchen and I can see through to the three in the living room. Looks like there may be a hallway of some sort on the right."

"Okay. I'm going for the living room, watch your back and clear the road behind me." Nate crouched down, easing the door latch open and then slamming the door open as the two robots in the kitchen turned to face the door. He barreled in, diving through the opening of a serving bar, heading for the living room.

The two robots in the kitchen staggered and fell, their chest plates significantly dented, but they struggled back to their feet. Either the Danger Room was adjusting or they hadn't been hit as squarely as Hannah thought.

In the living room, Nate hit the floor rug he'd failed to see and skidded across the floor. While Nate this put on his butt, this did also have the effect of taking the three robots in the living room to the floor like bowling pins, leaving all of them working to get up.

Murphy wasn't deterred, she grabbed a kitchen chair and swung it with all her might at the nearest recovering robot.

The robot took the blow, slamming into the wall and sinking to the floor. The other robot moved around the table, making a grab for Hannah with crackling hands.

In the living room, Nate and snagged the arm of one of the robots as it got up, slamming it crackling fist through the face plate of another robot. The second robot shook violently as the electricity fried it's circuits, giving Nate the opportunity to slide out of the way and jump back to his feet.

The hand was knocked out of the way and the legs of the chair ended up around the robot's torso and pinning the arm.

Nate ducked out of the way of a thrown punch from the third robot, sliding in behind to shoulder check it to the floor, grabbing for his third knife. As he dropped knee first on the robot's back, he jammed the knife into the back of the robot's neck joint.

And that's when Murphy attempted to throw the robot through a window.

The robot went sailing through the window with a loud crash and movement could be heard moving towards the stairs in the hallway. There was also pounding on the front door. "We need to get upstairs," Nate said as he came rolling back over the serving bar, landing on his feet.

Several robots had clustered at the top of the stairs as they prepared to head down. The front door burst in and the remaining patrol robots started working themselves into the house.

Nate threw open the cabinets under the kitchen sink, looking briefly before yanking out the fire extinguisher. He followed behind Hannah, fogging the air with the extinguisher.

The upstairs was fairly tightly structured with maximum room space and minimum hallway space. Hannah tackled the robot, the two of them coming to rest against a wall with Hannah on top. One of the remaining robots moved to intercept Nate, while the other robot moved to attempt to stun Hannah.

Hannah turns her head towards the robot approaching her and opens her jaws in a snarl. A bolt of red concussive energy crackles between her jaws before streaking towards the robot.

The robot flies backward down the stairs, taking its friend with it. Luckily, Nate sees it coming and bounces from one wall of the hallway to the other, leaping to grab the railing on the second floor. There is still a considerable amount of movement downstairs, but no new robots appear upstairs at the moment.

The human smells seemed to be coming from the master bedroom.

Nate hauled himself onto the second floor and opened the door to another bedroom quickly, checking the room. "Clear."

There were two adults and one child tied up on the floor of the master bedroom. She got a good chance to look at them before a punch swung through the opening, the fist crackling with energy.

Murphy was not expecting that. She stumbled backwards, blinded and in a lot of pain. The smell of blood rushed through her nostrils and her face felt like it was on fire for a moment.

She tripped over her own feet and fell backwards, letting out a surprised yelp as she hit the ground.

Nate moved quickly, jumping over her and blocking the next blow that was coming in, a forearm-to-forearm block that avoided the crackling fist. He rolled into a shoulder check, knocking the robot against the bed. "You okay," he called back.
