I7DT: Familiar Ceiling

[Gideon Rede]

Gideon woke up in the infirmary having lost consciousness at some point after the fight had ended. He tried to sit up, failed, then tried again getting into an upright position on the second attempt.

Ugh

[Lora Zalesky]

Lora was sitting close by, her nose stuck in a textbook. Hearing the mental groan snapped her attention over to Gideon, though.

"Have a nice nap, darling?"

[Gideon Rede]

Gideon was quite covered in stitches, and bandages.

"Not particularly," Gideon said rubbing the back of his neck, "I feel like somebody stabbed me a lot, and everywhere."

[Lora Zalesky]

"Someone kind of did." She set down the book and held his hand. "God, I was so worried before I got over there to you...and even after that..."

[Gideon Rede]

"Я тоже тебя люблю," Gideon said, "But I'm perfectly..."

Gideon paused staring at a bandaged arm.

"Okay, I might not be perfectly anything at this exact moment, but you are...alright eh?"

[Lora Zalesky]

"I am fine. None of us were worse off than you, I think." She squeezed his hand a bit, looking relieved.

[Gideon Rede]

Gideon squeezed back.

"Well I'm glad I could be of help by being the most crippled of all of us," Gideon said, "I'm sorry I worried you, Ангел мой."

[Lora Zalesky]

She shook her head. "Evil you was a douche. It is not your fault." She pulled her chair a bit closer, still holding his hand. She looked like she wanted to do more, but was holding back. Glomping wasn't the best thing for the wounded sometimes.

[Gideon Rede]

"He certainly was various things a douche is simply one of those, but at the same time he was doing things with my powers I didn't think was possible," Gideon said then smiled, "Don't worry I'm not about to break, just really sore."

[Lora Zalesky]

She smiled at him, then nodded. "He was very...advanced with his power usage."

[Gideon Rede]

"I'm thinking partly because of the psi-amplifier you crowned him with," Gideon said, "I was just completely unprepared for being hit that way, with that much psychic energy, it was even affecting the physical world."

"And you no doubt do not want to hear me talk about psychic mumbo jumbo."

[Lora Zalesky]

"What are you talking about? That is my favorite kind of mumbo jumbo." She smirked. "Finishing him off was quite satisfying. I mean, he had already done things to give you a bad name back around all of that Dr. Tomorrow business. Payback is a bitch."

[Gideon Rede]

It certainly could still be coming for me. This was a drop in the bucket

"Nobody likes theoretical psychic nonsense not even telepaths," Gideon smirked. "I've had worse things said about me, though being arrested at gun point and then interrogated was a new one. Also not being able to really go into the city after the incident at the bank.

I do find myself wishing he'd survived if only so I could've figured out why he was who he was."

[Lora Zalesky]

That gave her a moment's pause. "Oh. I am...sorry, then. It was spur of the moment thing, really, in that fight. But after what he did to you..."

[Gideon Rede]

Gideon gestured that Lora could get up on the bed though it was certainly not the most spacious thing on earth it would fit the two of them on it.

"I would've done the same thing, but I'm sure it would've been a bit messier," Gideon said, "And I'm probably looking at it through pain killer colored glasses. There's probably nothing I could've learned from him except how to be a monster."

[Lora Zalesky]

"Sometimes fighting like a monster is useful when you fight monsters," she allowed, getting up and gingerly sitting on the bed. "Still...I think he was too dangerous to keep around."

[Gideon Rede]

Gideon wrapped an arm around and leaned against Lora.

"We have plenty of dangerous things locked up beneath the school," Gideon said, "Probably even have the other leaders down there unless the other teams decided to finish the job."

"You're right though, it was probably for the best. Though the psi-amplifier had done that for us already."

[Lora Zalesky]

She half-smiled. "Perhaps I should watch it. They X-Men might not call me to come along if I get a reputation for killing our enemies before they can be questioned."

[Gideon Rede]

"We'll just have to make our own team," Gideon said, "That way we can write our own rules."

[Lora Zalesky]

"Tempting. What might we call ourselves?"

[Gideon Rede]

"It always comes down to a name doesn't it?" Gideon asked, "Wild Cards? Maybe we shouldn't even have a name just be some unknown group, eh?

You can probably tell I'm not that good at this."

[Lora Zalesky]

"If nothing else, we probably have plenty of time to think about it," she replied with a smirk.

[Gideon Rede]

"I'd hope so," Gideon grinned. "At the very least I don't plan on going anyplace."

[Lora Zalesky]

"Nor I." She leaned in closer. "Especially not now."

[Gideon Rede]

"What makes now so special?" Gideon asked with a smile.

[Lora Zalesky]

"Because now, you're awake, and safe." She kissed him.

[Gideon Rede]

Gideon returned the kiss and smiled.

"I have my lovely guardian angel right here and everything," Gideon said.

[Lora Zalesky]

"I am not so sure about the angel part."

[Gideon Rede]

"It's all perspective isn't it?" Gideon asked, "But your less angelic side is certainly much more fun."

[Lora Zalesky]

She grinned. "It is too bad that hospital doors do not lock. I would let my less angelic side come out to play."

[Gideon Rede]

"The doctor might wonder why I was coming back to get all my stitches redone," Gideon said before kissing Lora's hand. "We'll have plenty of time for that, eh? Unless you plan on going someplace without me."

[Lora Zalesky]

"Oh, I was not referring to anything that would require you to move...much," she replied, idly tracing a finger over his chest. "But that can wait until you can leave the infirmary. And do not worry. I am not going anywhere." Closing her eyes, she put her arms around Gideon.

[Gideon Rede]

"That's good," Gideon said, "Soon hopefully we can get away from here for a while take some time to actually be together by ourselves."

[Lora Zalesky]

"Once we get through June," she confirmed, grinning.

[Gideon Rede]

"You make it sound like the world isn't going to try to end at least twice before then," Gideon smiled.

[Lora Zalesky]

She grinned. "I have faith in our ability to prevent it. We have a good track record so far."

[Gideon Rede]

"We wouldn't be here to talk about it if we didn't," Gideon smirked. "X-Men and Acolytes comparing notes on saving the world, eh? What's next?"

[Lora Zalesky]

"When the world is at stake, strange bedfellows are made. I have to say, though, being an Acolyte has not been too functionally different from how being in the X-Men was." She shrugged.

[Gideon Rede]

"Bedfellows may be a bit literal in our case," Gideon chuckled. "That's probably partly because Cassiel went to school at Xaviers."

[Lora Zalesky]

"Oh, I do so enjoy our inter-team...cooperation." Guess that's what they call it these days...
