I7DT: Rooftop confessional

[Sean Hall]

Sean chuckled dodging back a step from her.

"Soon I'm going to look like that man who made himself into a snake using implants and tattoos," Sean said.

[Tala Davis]

She shivered, "Oooh ick, yeah, I remember him. I come by my freak naturally, some of us need help." She gave him a fangy grin.

[Sean Hall]

"So long as that help doesn't involve lots of piercings, and tattoos," Sean said, "I like being at least somewhat innocuous looking."

[Tala Davis]

"Chicken." She smiled and Ren "woke up" and Aolani reappeared from his walkabout.

"No, no. Not yet, later tonight. Back to your nap and you can come over and join us. You were very kind to pet him earlier, he would like your company as well."

Sean smiled and stifled a chuckle.

"I take it that's one of the problems with being able to...talk with the animals?" Sean asked.

[Tala Davis]

"I suppose the best way to describe it is they're like a small child. They just don't quite have the same level of word understanding as you or I. Most animals who live with humans still manage to pick up the meanings of certain words and sounds. Heck, even wild cats seem the know the sound of a can opener when they hear one. It's a little easier because I can talk to them, I can explain things."

"The real trouble is the smaller animals, smaller minds, harder to talk to, hugely instinct focused and hard to snap them out of it for a conversation."

[Sean Hall]

"Makes sense," Sean said, "So I'm probably not going to see you pulling a pied piper act any time soon or calling down a plague of locusts on some poor sod."

[Tala Davis]

"Depends on badly he deserves it.Working with small animals, bribes work best, especially food. Have food and they will come, but it does tend to give me a splitting headache."

"You can work insects? That's gotta be a bit strange," Sean said, "Not that I would know anything about it."

[Tala Davis]

"They're...alien..my empathy works best to motivate them. Once again, very strong instinct drive, can't really talk to them."

[Sean Hall]

"Interesting," Sean said, "Touching something else's mind has to be a rather interesting experience."

[Tala Davis]

"Especially when that mind seems nothing like your own. I usually go with Empathy first and mostly just listening to them, easier to make an animal comfortable with you before freaking them out by being able to talk back to them."

[Sean Hall]

"So animals aren't like in the Dr. Doolittle movies then," Sean said, "Always trying to talk to us and only wishing we'd talk back.

Though I suppose most humans don't enjoy hearing other peoples voices in their heads either."

[Tala Davis]

"It can be a bit... startling when you aren't expecting it. Not to mention the whole sometimes what we think isn't what we say for a good reason." She smiled.

"Animals are always talking, they just don't really give two figs if we understand them or not. It's more about ear position, tail movements and body language then actually audible sounds. I still hear them in my head, but I watch the other parts too."

[Sean Hall]

"Because they might be saying I'm not hungry, but their body might be saying they're about two seconds from mauling you," Sean said.

[Tala Davis]

"Or more a long the lines of, "I'm listening." but the body says, "Make it quick 'cause you is looking like dinner.""

[Sean Hall]

"I'd imagine you'd be a rather tough meal to acquire," Sean smiled, "Also probably gamey."

[Tala Davis]

"Most predators aren't really good for eating." She gave him a fangy smile.

"You have to cook the meat just right or it's tough. Not many critters are big on cooking their food, a doubly good reason to be a carnivore."

[Sean Hall]

"Prefer omnivore myself," Sean said, "Best of all worlds. Can eat meat cooked over an open fire, fruit fresh from the tree, or bread."

[Tala Davis]

"I try to keep things balanced, but some days all I want is a terrified cow on a platter." she chuckled.

[Sean Hall]

"Still mooing?" Sean asked.

[Tala Davis]

"Sometimes, usually only once a month." She giggled.

[Sean Hall]

"Sounds messy to me," Sean chuckled. "The problem is finding a farmer who doesn't mind you hunting his cattle."

"There, good sir, is the difference between humans and animals. I may want it, but I do the next best thing, stalk a meat market instead, though my purchases rarely make it home."

[Sean Hall]

"And yet you're quite the slip of a girl," Sean smiled, "Stalking must burn quite a few calories."

[Tala Davis]

"I thank Creation for good genetics."

[Sean Hall]

"And having the discipline for a morning run?" Sean asked.

[Tala Davis]

"Rather, having two very persistent roommates who demand their nightly runs."

[Sean Hall]

"A feral, a big cat, and a fox running around campus," Sean said, "I imagine that is quite the sight. At the very least it is more interesting than my morning runs."

[Tala Davis]

"Maybe when they are more comfortable you can join us. Steph offered to run with us tonight, to help keep people out of our way. I don't think they would hurt someone just for the heck of it,just trying to minimize the chaos when I can."

[Sean Hall]

"People can shoot lightning bolts out the arse, but the moment you see a big cat running around the whole world has gone to hell," Sean smiled. "I'd be honored to join you at some point, but understand your desire not to see me or anybody else mauled or with a broken ankle from trying to run away in terror."

"Steph's another feral or just somebody made out of something other than soft pink flesh?"

[Tala Davis]

"Another feral, werewolf is the closest common term." She smiled.

"It's partly for human safety and for Cloud and Ren's safety. I'd rather not have to treat lightning singes or animal control."

[Sean Hall]

"I think the lightning might be the more likely worry, as some students here can turn into cats, birds, dogs," Sean said, "Doubt animal control even bothers anymore."

[Tala Davis]

"They're known, Cloud and Ren aren't. Still better to be safe then sorry." She smiled.

[Sean Hall]

"Generally, yes," Sean smiled, "Though I'm imagining Ren can take care of herself fairly well."

[Tala Davis]

"She can, but she prefers the easy life. A human trait she picked up, laziness."

[Sean Hall]

"It probably doesn't help that humans think she's adorable," Sean said, "Though I'm not terribly surprised that she picked up a human trait. I mean she spends a lot of time with you and your powers probably help animals pick up those traits."

[Tala Davis]

"I try to keep them from being too lazy, it really isn't good for them, but I don't blame her for her preference of sleeping on my bed instead of the floor. It's nice having the little fuzzy company."

[Sean Hall]

"Good to keep them active," Sean said, "He'd be a fairly useless bodyguard if he were to get plump and complacent."

"I will admit I wouldn't be against a soft warm companion at night."

[Tala Davis]

"Oh, such a suggestion." She chuckled.

"Would you like me to give you one of my rabbits?"
