He hesitated. "When I was 14 my mother and I were taken hostage. I got away when my powers activated. But..." He looked down and sighed deeply. "They killed her."

"As much as I try to deny it, there's a feral part of me that wants revenge and it doesn't really matter if its the same people. I'm afraid of both what I'd do to the hostage takers and that my own issues might get hostages hurt or killed."
