June 12th: Fear Itself ((Team take down Belial))

The bullets were deflected into the wall as Nick dived into the side room. The two guards who'd been nearly disarmed regained control of their weapons, and moved quickly towards the doorway Nick had dived through.

Nick found himself inside of a room filled with hostages who were chained to the wall. There were several who were limp, and the number and depth of the cuts on their bodies very clearly displayed that they were already dead. As did the large blood stain.

He waited briefly, before delivering a heavy blast to the wall timed to hit the goons as they passed.

The guard who'd gone by first flew backwards into the wall, but the second simply jumped over his fallen comrade. That was when they began to blind fire into the room.

The guard Nick had chucked shook his head and began to crawl towards his teammate.

Nick turned their guns to save the hostages before making the clips fall out.

Guns fired directly into the walls of the entry way sending chips of concrete flying into the air. Clips falling out of their guns made the guards audibly curse before they began reloading their weapons.

The guards waited, and a voice crackled into the radio. Nick would probably hear the guards respond with something about "heavy weapons" being needed.

Nick then brought a portion of the hall ceiling down on them.

The guards actually screamed as chunks of concrete fell from the ceiling. One stumbled in front of the door arm hanging limp by his side. Blood leaked into the door way from a half-crushed helmet.

Nick could hear more boots hitting the ground coming from further down the hall.

One of the two remaining guards outside the doorway yelled something incoherent and charged at Nick spraying bullets as he came.

Nick then thought like a mechanic and forced the gun to jam.

Bobby also thought like a mechanic, turning his arm into the biggest, heaviest pipe wrench he could muster, and swung it mightily at the demons temple.

The pipe connected with the demon's temple with a loud cracking noise. It stumbled backwards and then fell down onto its knees.

Hurry up guys...

He may have jammed the gun, but the guard rammed his shoulder into Nick's chest.

Nick sidestepped with expert timing and tripped the guy.

The guard had been depending too much on his weapon, and tripped. He dropped his weapon and rolled into the corpses in the middle of the room. He go uneasily to his feet, and charged at Nick again drawing a knife as he did so.

The noise of boots hitting concrete grew louder they were almost to the door.

Bobby didn't stop, continuing to hammer at the demon's head, pressing his advantage.

The demon struggled the entire time, but was unable to mount any manner of real defense. The body became brittle when it stopped moving, and began to fall apart. This was of course when a wave of psychic energy crashed into Bobby from behind.

Belial stood there eyes glowing dimly, the psi enhancer still attached to his head.

"I am not beaten...I cannot lose to the likes of you...I cannot lose... again"

Another wave of energy hit Bobby and with physical force which threw him at the wall. Bobby would almost see the after image of another demon.

Nick twisted the goons wrist hard with his powers to divert the knife, and punched the goon square in the face.

The goon took the blow and sagged to the ground, which was about when the heavy weapons arrived. A whole squad of guards, three heavily armored ones with tanks on their backs leveled what looked like metal tubes into the room Nick was standing in.

"Flamethrowers? Really guys?" he said as he used his powers to try to pull the hoses out.

Bobby smashed into the wall, crumpling to the floor.

"What... what was that?" He mumbled to himself.

[Lora Zalesky]

"I think his strength is finally giving out," replied Lora. She was indirectly hit by the blast, but was soon on her feet again. Tentatively, Lora sprayed a plume of mist towards Belial.

Belial recoiled from the mist Lora'd sprayed at him.

"No, no, no, this is not how it is supposed to end," Belial said, "I was going to be king. King of this world."

[Bobby Bowen]

"Time to be king of the next world."

Bobby extended and ran, and swung a brass fist at his jaw.

Belial dodged the punch by the barest of margins. He lunged forward with his hands and planted them on Bobby's chest.

"I can still... kill you," Belial said letting loose a spike of pain into Bobby's chest.

[Lora Zalesky]

"But I will not let you," Lora interjected, closing the distance. It was gonna be an easy shot. Out of both hands, she shot reddish jets of liquid pain and death at the sci enhancer he wore.

[Belial]

The jets of acid hit the helmet, his face, the wires. The helmet began to melt, and trickles of acid mixed with metal ran down his face. Belial began to scream backing away from the two violently the wires now weakened by acid ripped and tore out of the wall.

"NO! NOT LIKE THIS! I AM YOUR KING!"

He fell over backwards scrabbling to remove the helmet, the acid getting into his yes, and lungs when he inhaled. The screaming continued in their minds for a few moments as he thrashed violently on the floor, nails scratching his own face, throat, the floor. A few moments later he was still.

The guards about to incinerate Nick stopped short at the psychic scream, and began a hasty retreat. They covered their retreat with with bursts of gunfire to deter pursuit.

"A pity you can never remove your crown." Once she was satisfied that Belial was finished, she immediately returned to Gideon's side. "How are you holding up?"

Gideon smiled at Lora blood running down one side of his face from two cuts.

"Give me a couple thugs and I'll show you, Милая моя," Gideon said sounding tired, "Though I may be limited to bleeding my dirty mutant blood all over them."

She ran a hand through his hair, smiling in spite of herself at the fact that he could find humor in this. "Do not worry, we will have you back at the infirmary in no time." She contacted HQ for just that purpose. "Brass, Khaos, status?"

"I took out a pair of thugs, but..." he reported with a sigh, "Found some civilian casualties... three dead, two wounded."

"I'm fine. Did we cause... The casualties?" he asked, a lump forming in his throat, thinking back to the bank job.

"From the look of this room, they were dead before we got here."

Bobby took some small solace in that, just a little.

He approached the evil Gid.

Belial was still, and no longer breathing. The psi enhancer was half melted onto his head. Claw marks marked his throat and face where he'd struggled to remove the device or the acid you couldn't quite tell anymore. There was little else extraordinary about him, he was athletic, wearing a well fitted black military uniform which was now covered in in quite holes where acid had eaten through it. Through one the larger acid eaten holes could be seen a brandthat had been burned into his black skin and beneath it was a bar code tattoo.

Bobby gave a gasp, pulling back.

"This... This is not good.."

"Dun dun dunnn, eh?" GIdeon asked with another tired looking smile.

Bobby didn't laugh, turning to his friend.

"That tattoo, Gid.. Have you seen it before?"

"What tattoo? Some kind of gang tattoo?" Gideon asked trying to stand up and failing.

"Don't exert yourself!," she gently chided Gideon. "I will take a look." She walked over Belial's corpse and had a look. "Hmm...a stylized eye, surrounded by bolts of lightning? That is the only way I can describe it."

Gideon closed his eyes for a moment trying to think.

"They called themselves The Eye or the The Sons of Horus...They were some kind of research group."

But they're a pretty small group even if they are supposed to be way ahead of the curve when it comes to well anything regarding mutants. But I didn't think they marked their members and this kind of thing is hardly their style. It just doesn't add up...I mean they're some kind of...what was it again?"

Gideon was having a hard time focusing on the conversation.

"My dad has come across them, and I heard rumors back in Westchester. Mutants disappearing, returning unexpectedly and suddenly.. They are not good people."
