I7DT: Magic drinks

[Sean Hall]

Sean chuckled.

"I haven't seen condensation do that yet," Sean said, "But there is a first time for everything."

[Jennifer Tarasova]

"True. I'm babbling."

[Sean Hall]

"Hardly," Sean said, "Imagine the kinds of things people must talk about at a school like this."

[Jennifer Tarasova]

"I imagine giant robot attacks are among them," Jennifer said, sipping at her drink.

[Sean Hall]

"I imagine the many crisis are quite the focus of conversation," Sean said, "Surprised so many people attend here with robots, super villains, and the universe tearing itself apart."

[Jennifer Tarasova]

"Better than going it alone. I speak from personal experience."

[Sean Hall]

"Depends on the environment really," Sean said, "I was one of three or four super powered people at my high school and we all did relatively well."

[Jennifer Tarasova]

"I was one of several mutants on my college campus, and it was hell," Jennifer said, "So I guess it does kind of depend."

[Sean Hall]

Sean nodded.

"Probably helps when those mutant kids have parents with millions of pounds," Sean said, "I mean who wants to mess with somebody you might need to negotiate a large contract with later in life?"

[Jennifer Tarasova]

"That does put a damper on things to be sure," Jennifer said. "Where I was going, it got to the point that I was starting to fail courses because they kept destroying my art assignments."

[Sean Hall]

"The faculty wouldn't do anything?" Sean asked.

[Jennifer Tarasova]

"Half of them assume that a student who says they can't turn in assignments are actually lazy good-for-nothings who just aren't doing the work. The other half didn't care."

[Sean Hall]

"I can see why teachers might think that," Sean said, "But I would have hoped they'd at least care about their students..."

[Jennifer Tarasova]

"There was one. She was a sweetheart, but she was an associate with no tenure. So no rocking the boat for her or it would completely scuttle her career. She did what she could, but it wasn't enough."

[Sean Hall]

"It never really is, is it?" Sean sighed.

[Jennifer Tarasova]

"Just a sign to move on, I guess," Jennifer said, smiling. "Find greener pastures."

[Sean Hall]

"I suppose that's why this school exists," Sean said, "Like the Institute in the states or the Academy of Tomorrow. Too many times have mutants, or those like me been persecuted in some fashion or another."

[Jennifer Tarasova]

"Can I infer from you not including yourself in the mutant category that you're not one?"

[Sean Hall]

Yeah, now is the perfect time to try this out

"I'm human," Sean said, "More or less."

[Jennifer Tarasova]

Jennifer looked at him for a moment, "I didn't think cute white British guys were on the persecution list of history."

[Sean Hall]

"Thank you," Sean chuckled, "But no...I always worry people are going to laugh."

His hand glowed blue for a moment, and the nearly done drawing of Jennifer became animated smiled, changed position.

"I'm a wizard."

[Jennifer Tarasova]

Jennifer started a bit at the blue glow and the animated sketch, but recovered quickly with a smile, "Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, or Hufflepuff?"

[Sean Hall]

Sean chuckled.

"For some reason I doubt that is going to be the first time somebody asks me that," Sean smiled. "If there'd been a wizard school growing up probably would have been a bit simpler."


Sean then said something in a language that didn't sound of this world and the sketch returned to it's original position.

[Jennifer Tarasova]

"I imagine it would have," Jennifer said.

[Sean Hall]

"Probably, but a little late for that now," Sean said, "Unfortunately for me there were no brooms to ride, quidditch to play, or wands."

[Jennifer Tarasova]

"That's a shame. You probably would have made a great Quidditch player."

[Sean Hall]

"I'm not so sure, the whole flying thing is something that would take some adjusting to," Sean said, "But being a keeper would've been interesting."

[Jennifer Tarasova]

"Interesting choice. Most people seem to gravitate towards Seeker."

[Sean Hall]

"I've never wanted glory or to be the star," Sean said, "Prefer being the rock people depend on."

[Jennifer Tarasova]

"Personally I would have gone for beater. Seems like an interesting position." She sipped at her drink.

[Sean Hall]

"I cannot really picture you beating people to a pulp," Sean smiled.

[Jennifer Tarasova]

"Appearances can be deceiving sometimes."

[Sean Hall]

"So under the surface is a femme fatale waiting to come out?" Sean asked.

[Jennifer Tarasova]

"I think everyone has that in them somewhere to varying degrees, whether they like to acknowledge it or not."

[Sean Hall]

"People do prefer to think of themselves as perfectly logical, reasonable, and civilized creatures," Sean said.

[Jennifer Tarasova]

"It's what helps most of them sleep at night. That and Ambien."

[Sean Hall]

"Don't forget alcohol," Sean said holding up his glass for a moment.

[Jennifer Tarasova]

Jennifer smiled, "Indeed."
