I7DT: A Sketchy Hallway

[Jennifer Tarasova]

Jennifer sat with her back to the wall at one end of a hallway. A large sketchbook was open on her lap and she was looking from the hallway to the sketchbook, drawing with a pencil for a bit, then more looking at the hallway. This was followed by a frown and then some erasing and some more drawing.

From behind her in the hallway, a head stuck out of the wall, about halfway up.

"Angle's a bit wrong..." Coby said, floating there.

[Jennifer Tarasova]

"That depends on where you're looking at the hallway from," Jennifer said, looking up, apparently unphased by the concept of a head sticking out of a wall.

[Coby]

"That's a fair point, I suppose," he said, moving up in the wall to get a different angle.

[Jennifer Tarasova]

"Come down here, level with my head, and look," she said.

[Coby]

Coby did so, floating down.

"Eh, it's closer."

[Jennifer Tarasova]

"If I was doing drafting or architecture, close wouldn't be good enough. But since it's art, I can settle for close," she said, going back to make a few adjustments. "My name's Jennifer, by the way."

[Coby]

"Coby."

[Jennifer Tarasova]

"So do you make a habit of hanging out in walls?"

[Coby]

"They get in the way, if I'm honest."

[Jennifer Tarasova]

"I could see that," she says. "I know sometimes I wish I could just take a straight line from point A to point B."

[Coby]

"Saves time and effort. And gets better views for sketching."

[Jennifer Tarasova]

"Depends on your definition of 'better'."

[Coby]

"Not worse?"

[Jennifer Tarasova]

"You're assigning value statements to perspective. Not sure that's allowed." A smile crossed her lips.

[Coby]

"Totally is. Just did it."

[Jennifer Tarasova]

"You can go as fast as you want in a car too, but that doesn't mean it's allowed," she pointed out.

[Coby]

"Is if they don't catch you!"

[Jennifer Tarasova]

Jennifer took a moment to consider this as she added some more to her sketch. "I think you and I have different definitions of 'allowed'."

[Coby]

"Eh, maybe. I get by on mine."

[Jennifer Tarasova]

"I would assume so, considering that you're still here," Jennifer said.

[Coby]

"Maybe I'm not! I'm floating through a wall. Maybe you've just gone slowly insane."

[Jennifer Tarasova]

"No, I'm pretty sure I would have had to go quickly insane for heads to start popping out of walls, questioning the selection of perspective in art." She added more to her sketch, adjusting some of the lines.

[Coby]

"Well, then, maybe you've done that."

[Jennifer Tarasova]

"Again, I doubt it. Besides, heads coming out of walls isn't exactly new territory for me."

[Coby]

"Pity. I usually freak people out more than this."

[Jennifer Tarasova]

"You just picked the wrong girl, I guess," Jennifer said, shading some sections of the image.
