Derek's Room, 6-12

[Melody Martens]

Melody felt worse than she looked, and that was saying something. She was sore, beat-up, and exhausted, both physically and emotionally. She'd acted like a child, hurt two people who didn't deserve it at all, and nearly got eaten by a dinosaur in the process. The thought that she could've screwed up the best thing that she'd ever had with a guy certainly didn't help.

She knocked meekly on his door and waited.

Derek took a bit longer to answer the door than normal, still being sore from the bomb-blasts and the elbows to the eye he'd taken. He winced slightly when he opened the door, like he expected to be in trouble for something now. "H-hey," he said, tentatively.

[Melody Martens]

Melody bit her lip and shifted her weight awkwardly. She had a lump in her throat the size of a grapefruit, and tears started welling up in her eyes the minute she saw Derek.

"H...hi," she croaked.

((i'm completely falling asleep here, but will be around tomorrow and this weekend.))

[Derek Scott]

"Hey," Derek said lamely. "You... all right?" he asked, stepping aside so she could come in if she wanted to. Which he wasn't sure she would.

[Melody Martens]

Melody sniffled, and wiped her eyes with her hand before stepping inside hesitantly.

"Thanks," she said quietly, "I...after I passed out at the infirmary, I didn't really get to talk to you. Or to Chloe. I..." she said, tears starting to flow freely down her cheeks.

"Derek, I fucked up. I fucked up badly."

[Derek Scott]

Derek sighed, pulling Melody to him and wrapping his arms around her. "I guess that means you didn't mean to blow me up?" he joked weakly as he let her get it out.

[Melody Martens]

Melody bawled, babbling almost incomprehensibly for several minutes, thoroughly soaking Derek's shirt. He quite possibly understood the phrase, "I'm such a bitch," after it was repeated for the fourth or fifth time. "I'm so sorry," seemed to be in there too.

[Derek Scott]

"Hey, hey, it's all right, babe," Derek said, sitting down with her and letting her... well, keep soaking his shirt. "You're not a bitch, it's all right. Just relax, okay?"

[Melody Martens]

After several more minutes of tears, the sobbing slowly began to subside, and Melody just leaned into Derek, her shoulders occasionally shuddering. Finally, she worked up the nerve to look up at Derek. "I...I was so out of line the other day. I...Chloe is your friend, and I have...I have no right to tell you who you can and can't hang out with. I...I know I'm still kind of mad at her for doing that. But. I..."

Don't want someone to steal you? Can't bear the thought of losing you? Love you?

"I...Derek, you mean a lot to me. And, I just...well I've never felt this way about a guy before. And I didn't realize how possessive I could be until this all happened. I just...don't want to think of losing you to someone else. But now you probably think that I'm crazy."

[Derek Scott]

Derek shook his head, drying her cheeks off with the edge of his shirt and smiling reassuringly at her. "Hey, we all get a little crazy sometimes, right? It's all right. I'm not going anywhere, all right, babe?" He gave her a little reassuring kiss. "I mean... I wouldn't recommend trying to kick someone's ass over it again, but I think I'd be a little insulted if you weren't going to get a little possessive, you know? I know I'd be ready to beat someone down if they tried to steal you, right?"

Melody smiled at Derek and sniffled. "Really? Even after as crazy as I've been acting, you're still such a sweetheart to me?"

[Derek Scott]

Derek chuckled at that. "Well, I'd like it if you didn't go attacking people again, but come on... you really think I'm going to get mad because you care that much?" He hugged her, smoothing her hair down. "It's all right, babe. Just relax, all right? I'm not dumping you, I don't think you're crazy, it's all right."

[Melody Martens]

"I'm so lucky to have you, Derek," she said, her eyes again wet with tears, but far happier ones. "I promise I won't ever be such a raging bitch again. I just...you mean so much to me."

She hugged him tightly.

[Derek Scott]

Derek squeezed her back. "I know, babe. We're both lucky... I wouldn't do anything to lose you. And not just because you could blow me up," he teased. He sighed happily, glad that this was going better than expeced.

[Melody Martens]

"Damn right I could," she smiled, laughing slightly, sitting up in a more upright position and wiping her eyes dry. "Oh my god, your shirt is soaked--I'm sorry," she said, looking at his tear-stained shirt.

[Derek Scott]

"Heh... That was the plan, wasn't it. Make sure everything's fine and get me out of my shirt all in one?" he teased as he peeled out of the rather soaked shirt.

[Melody Martens]

Melody smirked, "Well we certainly can't have wild makeup sex with your shirt on, now could we?"

"Kidding," she added seriously, "...or AM I?" she laughed.

[Derek Scott]

"Well, you could, but since I know I'd like it better with your shirt off, I can only imagine the same's true for you," he answered with a wicked smirk.

[Melody Martens]

"Well, I can make that happen easily enough," she grinned. And did so.

"So...as long as we're both half undressed...and you don't have to be anywhere...I thought maybe.. You know....I could continue apologizing," she said matter-of-factly.

[Derek Scott]

Derek let his eyes follow the shirt up off of her, as usual, before fixing them back onto her eyes. He smirked at her tone, then answered her by kissing her, rather enthusiastically, as he tossed the wet shirt across the room in the general direction of his clothes hamper.

Melody kissed him back eagerly before pushing him backwards onto his bed.

"I'll take that as a yes, then," she purred.
