Which Derek didn't see, being busy shouting in surprised pain as he held a hand over his eye and staggered back.

Chloe let out a shriek of pain and anger and started to shift. Melody would find herself tangling with a pissed off ball of feathers, but in this case, the feathers didn't belong to a cute little cockatoo, they belonged to a deinonychus.

[Melody Martens]

“Holy shit!” she shrieked, scrambling back on the ground while at the same time filling her right hand with a mound of pea-sized glowing bombs, getting ready to toss them if the freaking dinosaur came following after her.

Chloe paused for a second or two, confused by what had just happened, then instinct took over, and she launched herself at Melody.

And Derek, seeing this as he turned back to look at the girls, rushed in and leapt at Chloe, meaning to collide with her in midair. Shit shit shit shit this is bad...

[Melody Martens]

Melody screamed in near-panic as she hurled the explosives, which would likely hurt like hell, but not do terribly lasting damage, at the Chloeraptor...and rather unfortunately, right at her boyfriend, as he came charging in to stop Chloe too.  She rolled backwards after the throw, and tried to scramble to her feet.

Chloe fought against the urge to savage Derek as she was knocked to the ground, but still pushed away from him, unhurt by the explosions, but still disoriented. She tried to say "Let me go, you bastard." but all that came out was a roar.

[Derek Scott]

And Derek, rather dazed and battered by the little explosions, fell over, trying to regain his senses.

[Melody Martens]

Melody awkwardly got to her feet in time to see that Derek had probably taken more of a beating from her attack than the dinosaur.

since when has she been able to turn into a fucking dinosaur!? So not fair!

She formed two substantially larger bombs in her hands and held them at her side, ready to chuck them at the ground on front of the raptor.  These would  be loud, and very bright, but would really act more like a flash-bang grenade than anything else.  Hopefully it would keep her from being eaten by that prehistoric bitch.

Chloe stood there, stunned by the grenades, not sure if she should attack or flee, only knowing that she hurt. She hurt and that made her angry, and Melody was the one who'd done it, so she launched herself at Melody again.

[Derek Scott]

Derek shook his head, trying to come to his senses, managing to clear his head enough to see the Chloesaurus Wrex about to try to kill his girlfriend. Hell.. oh man... In his right mind, he probably could have come up with quite a few ideas, but at the moment, the only idea he had consisted of sending a spray of golfball-sized chunks of crystal at the feathery dinosaur.

The disorientation caused by the grenades was probably the only thing that allowed Melody to dodge out of the way of the attack.  She landed painfully on the leg with a bad knee and she gasped. Now hobbling a bit,  she spun around as quickly as she could and formed a softball sized bomb in her hand. She chucked it at Chloe as Derek's hail of crystal flew at her as well.  Melody willed the bomb to explode before it hit Chloe or the ground, and it packed a whallop this time, the blast wave from it rattling the leaves on a nearby tree.

Crystals hit Chloe in the head, the side and the leg, and combined with the force of the shockwave from Melody's blast, was too much and she fell to the ground in a heap. Once she'd passed out, she shifted back into human form and lay on the ground, in a naked, bloody, banged up heap.

[Derek Scott]

"What the... hell," Derek muttered, still dazed and with one eye swolen shut as he looked groggily up from the ground.

[Melody Martens]

Melody was panting, the adrenaline leaving her body, and pain quickly taking its place. Blood was dripping down her check, she had a black eye of her own starting, and her shirt was stretched and ripped in multiple places.  Her knee felt even worse.

"What the fuck...." she trailed off, tears welling up in her eyes, as she slowly started to realize exactly how she'd just acted and what she'd done.

She hobbled over to her bag that she'd discarded as the fight started, opened it, pulled out a light jacket and struggled to get over to Chloe to at least cover her up. Melody sobbed, too embarrassed to even look at her boyfriend...if that title even applied anymore. 

"Oh god....I'm so sorry..." she cried.

"Derek...call...call the infirmary," she called out, adding, "...please..."

[Lora Zalesky]

Lora just happened to be walking along between two of her classes, when she saw a gathering of three people she happened to know. About a millisecond later, she could also see that something had gone very wrong. She rushed over to see what she could do.

"Melody? Derek? ....Chloe? God, what the hell happened?!"

[Melody Martens]

By that point Melody was sobbing to the point where she was incoherent.  Something got out that sounded a whole lot like dinosaur, though.

[Derek Scott]

"Yeah, already on it," Derek said, still feeling woozy as he pulled out his cell phone. Somewhat haltingly, he told them what had happened, examining her in the process to make sure she hadn't been seriously hurt.

[Chloe Grant]

Nothing appeared to be broken, although there was a worrisome bruise near her temple, and she wasn't waking up.

[Lora Zalesky]

Lora knelt down near her former pack member, examining the head wound closely.

"Dinosaur?," she asked, though she wasn't expecting a coherent response at this point. "God, the things that happen when I look away." She slipped a hand underneath Chloe's head to keep it supported, careful not to move her neck. "That head wound looks..." She just shook her head a bit.

[Derek Scott]

"THey'll... take care of her," Derek said, a bit drowsily, as he flopped down on the grass again, laying back dizzily and resting his head against Melody's leg, wishing the day was over already.

[Melody Martens]

The next bit of speech melody attempted through her tears sounded actually pretty close to English.  "Oh god.... all....all my fault..."

[Narrator]

The infirmary staff appeared and hauled the wounded off on stretchers.

[Derek Scott]

"DId you... turn her into a dinosaur?" Derek said, opening his eyes and trying to focus them up at Melody.

[Melody Martens]

"I.... No. I didn't," she said after a long pause, her tears finally  subsiding as the medics escorted them all the the infirmary. "But I brought it out..."

[Derek Scott]

Derek sighed. "Eh... head hurts too much to argue. Just... relax, babe..."

[Melody Martens]

“I….alright,” she said quietly.

“Derek? I….I’m so sorry…”

[Derek Scott]

Derek nodded, then winced. "I think a truck hit me...

[Melody Martens]

"I...I can't believe that just happened...." she trailed off. "I can't believe I hit you more than her...how did your eye get hurt?"
