Sat 6/4: Lunch

[Deanna Crawford]

Deanna takes a seat demurely in the grass of the Quad and unwraps the sub she purchased from the Dining Hall not long before. Because she is wearing a white tennis skirt, she uses her power and sits upon one of her shields so that she doesn't stain it.

[Gaius Montgomery]

"Oh to be never left wanting for a chair," the British youth mused as he walked up to Deanna.

[Deanna Crawford]

Deanna freezes in the act of bringing the sub to her mouth and looks up at the older youth. She flushes, not having thought anyone would notice the shield. "Hello. I'm Deanna," she says, opting for a safe response since she is not sure of the etiquette of discussing mutations with fellow students.

[Gaius Montgomery]

"Gaius. Gaius Montgomery. A pleasure to meet you Deanna," he responded with is best ice-breaking smile.

[Deanna Crawford]

"It's nice to meet you too," Deanna said, looking up at him with a smile of her own. "How long have you been here?" she asked, gauging his age as greater than her own.

[Gaius Montgomery]

"I transferred in a little less than a month ago."

[Deanna Crawford]

Comprehension flashes across Deanna's face. "I just enrolled," she admits. "Where were you headed, if you don't mind my asking?"

[Gaius Montgomery]

"To grab a bite to eat myself, actually."

[Deanna Crawford]

Deanna puts the sub back on top of its open wrapper and nods. "I couldn't bear the thought of eating inside," she said. "I hate sitting at a table alone. At least out here..." she trails off with a shrug.

[Gaius Montgomery]

"It somehow feels less lonely, despite there being fewer people?" he asked.

[Deanna Crawford]

"Fewer people, but at least there aren't any empty chairs," she agreed.

[Gaius Montgomery]

"I have an even better idea. I'll go grab a lunch and join you here on the lawn. The best of both worlds," he suggested optimistically.

[Deanna Crawford]

"I'll be here," Deanna promised. "And I'd enjoy the company," she added with a warm smile.

[Gaius Montgomery]

"Then I shall return shortly," he smiled before departing.

[Deanna Crawford]

Deanna decides to hold off on eating her sub until Gaius returns. In the meantime, she observes the other people in the area.

[Janice Gilbertson]

Janice walked out on the grounds, enjoying the weather. Well, the weather and the prospect that her parents hadn't yet said anything about wanting her home for the summer.

[Deanna Crawford]

A new arrival with blonde hair came onto the grass, catching Deanna's attention. She watched her for a moment, idly trying to see if she could spot anything that seemed like a mutation or power.

[Aiden Mitchell]

That was when a dragon shifted Aiden landed on the quad.

[Janice Gilbertson]

"I swear, you do that on purpose, Aiden." Janice said after she got over her surprise, chuckling.

[Aiden Mitchell]

"I would never test how unaware you all are of your surroundings," Aiden rumbled.

[Deanna Crawford]

Deanna blinked when a dragon landed in the grass, and jerked backwards a bit, but didn't make a sound. Once she recovered from her surprise, she glanced toward the Dining Hall to see if Gaius was on his way back yet.

[Janice Gilbertson]

"No, just whether we can be frightened into dropping sandwiches for you to snap up."

[Aiden Mitchell]

Aiden chuckled small amounts of smoke escaping from his mouth.

"Such tiny morsels," Aide scoffed, "None of you could be convinced to carry something substantial like a whole deer, or possibly a princess or two to accost."

With the last part Aiden looked around the surrounding area his eyes settling on Deanna for a few moments.

[Janice Gilbertson]

"No carrying the new students off to your lair, Aiden."

[Hannah Murphy]

And that's when an extremely large wolf tackled Janice.

[Janice Gilbertson]

"Gah! Foul! Foul!" She shouted as she tumbled to the ground.

[Hannah Murphy]

Hannah growled at Janice, wagging her tail.

[Deanna Crawford]

Deanna met the dragon's eyes and offered a hesitant smile.

[Gaius Montgomery]

"Now why couldn't I be a dragon?" Guy smirked as he returned with a wrapped doner kebab and a beverage.

[Deanna Crawford]

"Probably because then, you couldn't wear such nice clothes," Deanna said, eyes sparkling. "Or fetch whatever-that-is from the Dining Hall."

[Gaius Montgomery]

"What? This old rag?" he said of his obviously not cheap suit. "Please, I learned the hard way to stop wearing the really good stuff around here."

[Janice Gilbertson]

"Oh, don't give me that look!" She laughed, slowly righting herself.

[Hannah Murphy]

Murphy lets out a disdainful snort.

[Deanna Crawford]

"I thought this was supposed to be a safe place for mutants," Deanna said, a faint hint of alarm tinting her posh accent.

[Gaius Montgomery]

"Oh it is... most of the time anyway. Mother nature just went a little mad for a bit."

[Deanna Crawford]

"Well, hopefully she'll allow us to enjoy our lunch," Deanna said, picking up her sub.

[Gaius Montgomery]

"She seems to have calmed down," he answered before taking a bite of his wrap.

"This, this is brilliant... and somehow terrible... yet mostly brilliant."

[Aiden Mitchell]

Aiden chuckled at the pair, and began to shift. Eventually returning to his normal shape wearing his acolyte uniform.

"Do you need saving?" Aiden smirked.
