"Oh yes, such a novel concept. I've sneered at it long before you were born." Now she sounds derisive, but there seems to be a hint of doubt to her voice. And though there isn't really a definitive source to the voice there suddenly is the feeling that the cat statue on the altar is staring at Sam inquisitively.
