Sunday, May 29th: USA! USA! USA!

Postby Rachel O'Brien » Fri Apr 08, 2011 3:31 am

Rachel was sitting in the XUB, practically bouncing as she waited for the match to begin. She was wearing a t-shirt that depicted a red snake choking a seriously outmached lion, underneath which was written "1775, 1812, 1950, 2022". reached out slightly with her power, trying to gauge how likely it was a fight would start before the game was over, since the place seemed evenly split between England and US supporters.

"A novelty T-Shirt. How quaint. Alas, it shall be left as a mere footnote in history in a few hours," Tommy opined.

"Did you actually watch any of the Iran games? They've got a hella scrappy team this year. I mean, fuck, they knocked out Argentina.. I'll take number two in the Group of Death over winning the cakewalk that was your group."

Rachel snorted "Seriously. Thats like saying 'the oldest building in Phoenix'. Face it, the only reason why the EPL is any good is because they pay the best players to come over here."

"That is so dumb its not even offensive." Rachel said, grinning as she took a pull from her beer. "We're underdogs in the Cup, yeah. But we've made it to at least the knockout round for over a decade."

"Ok, first of all, Tim Howard is God. And second of all, that wasn't luck. That was skill combined with a stunning display of incompetence by your goalie. Seriously, there are eight year olds playing rec league soccer that would have been embarrassed by a miss like that."

And start it did, live, from the City of Manchester Stadium in scenic Manchester!

And the US was pressing right from the very start, charging deep and trying to deal a blow to the English before the crowd had even settled down.
