May 26th: Undercover, yet Overtly Reporting

[Logan]

Wolverine had called the undercover squad into an emergency meeting the day after the riot/raid/party/disturbing discovery....thing.

[Chloe Grant]

"Hello." Chloe said as she took a seat "So, yeah. They made us."

[Nick Varkan]

Nick took a seat, uncharacteristically silent.

[Bobby Bowen]

Bobby took a seat, fuming.

"Dammit. Dammit!"

[Logan]

"So. What's going on," Logan said, grimly.

[Nick Varkan]

"They have Dr. Cross under mind-control. They've been onto us."

[Bobby Bowen]

"Hell, I'm amazed we got out at all. It was a huge ambush!"

[Logan]

"They attacked you?"

[Bobby Bowen]

"Well, no.."

[Logan]

"Well, it certainly wasn't safe if they took down Miles," he frowned.

"And you said the other...'combatants' were there, too?"

[Chloe Grant]

"The people we fought to get into the gang." Chloe confirmed "Plus they've got Wingnut working for them."

[Nick Varkan]

"To think I used to kinda like the guy," Nick frowned.

[Logan]

"Is HE brainwashed?"

[Chloe Grant]

"Its hard to say." Chloe replied "He didn't seem different, the others were acting like weird sex slave zombies."

[Logan]

"D'you think that it was for your benefit, then? Like, survival of the fittest?"

[Nick Varkan]

"I think it was to tell us 'Back off or we'll turn your minds to sludge'."

[Logan]

"So.

What are we gonna do about it. Go in, guns blazing now?

Do you know who's behind it yet?"

[Nick Varkan]

"I did catch a glimpse of what was in the third van during the the riot. Glowing red eyes and a stretching arm. There was something familiar about those eyes, but I can't put my finger on it."

[Chloe Grant]

"No." Chloe said, looking slightly embarrassed by that fact.

[Logan]

"Red eyes and a...stretchy arm?

You said they were familiar, Nick. Any idea from where?"

[Nick Varkan]

"They were almost like something out a bad dream..." he answered, pausing as he considered something, "...nah..."

[Logan]

"What is it, Varkan?"

[Nick Varkan]

"Rede. I don't like the guy, but this is beyond even him."

[Logan]

"Besides, I don't think a student could manage a major crime....organization..." he trailed off.

[Nick Varkan]

"What is it?"

[Logan]

"Rede...he's been in trouble before, hasn't he...I can't quite remember..."

[Nick Varkan]

"Off with a warning every damn time."

[Logan]

"You think this time he's gone too far?"

[Nick Varkan]

"If he's part of this, then yeah."

[Logan]

"Well, whatever it is, we can't let Dr. Cross rot up there. I hate to do this...

But go in, get 'em out. Guns blazin'."

[Calvin Strong]

"How do we find them," asked Cal, who'd been sitting quiet until then. "I mean... yeah, we've got to do something. But if we don't give this whole situation a bullet in the head, it'll just come back to bite us after it licks its wounds, and they've already shown they can get at people in the school. At least now we know where some of them are. Make them disappear, and when they pop up again it'll probably be worse. Much as I'd love to cave Wingnut's face in, we've got to get the guys at the top if we're going to go in and clean house."

[Logan]

"Do you have a suggestion, Strong?" Logan asked, turning the floor over.

[Calvin Strong]

He frowned, then shrugged. "No one's going to like it, but yeah. Hell, I don't even like it. We keep playing the game. We keep our cover, and wait for the first chance to give this whole group a headshot." He paused, then went on. "If we could get tepe-oversight, that would be good, but I don't see that happening. If you could get your hands on a psi-sensor for me, though, I can get that installed and be able to tell if someone's getting their brain screwed with."

[Logan]

"I can get my hands on one.

If anyone here feels too nervous 'bout this, this is the point where ya can back out," he said, looking around the room.

[Calvin Strong]

Cal shrugged. "Wouldn't have said it if I wasn't in," he said, resuming silence.

[Chloe Grant]

"I'll go back." Chloe said, trying to sound brave.

[Nick Varkan]

"As much as I hate it, Cal's right. So yeah, I'm in. Assuming Wingnut gets over me getting drunk and calling him an idiot."
