March 23rd: What's this?

[Sean Hall]

Sean wandered into the danger room having heard it was the best thing since sliced bread, and then proceeded to load up part of the Ease Gill cave system.

[Gaius Montgomery]

"Ever the tunnel rat eh Hall?" came a familiar, somewhat taunting, voice through the intercom.

[Sean Hall]

Sean placed a hand on the wall of the cave, and it certainly felt real.

Incredible...

Gaius' question brought him back to reality.

"Gaius," Sean said turning to look at the observation deck, "If you ever tried taking the platinum spoon from your mouth, and venturing outdoors you might understand why."

[Gaius Montgomery]

"You have no idea the places I've been," he smirked. Well, presumably he did... in that playful arrogance of his.

[Sean Hall]

"Is this where you try to impress me with saying you've met the queen?" Sean asked walking further into the cave.

[Gaius Montgomery]

He phased into the room. "Well I have. But no, this is where I impress you by doing this," he said with a madcap grin, "Computer, load the following coordinates." He rattled off said coordinates and the scene shifted to another part of the cave. No sunlight penetrated the chamber, so visibility was virtually non-existent.

[Sean Hall]

Sean went down on all fours when the lights went out. He checked his immediate surroundings with his hands, and seeing that he wasn't in immediate danger of falling to his doom stood back up.

"So you know how to use the computer," Sean said not sounding particularly impressed.

[Gaius Montgomery]

"And lights," he commanded, light poles appearing. They revealed a chamber containing a bubbling spring. The chamber only appeared to be accessible through a caved-in passage.

"The accuracy of this thing is bloody spectacular isn't it," he grinned.

[Sean Hall]

"I wonder how it knows all of this," Sean said looking around the room, "While the caves are mostly mapped I never heard of anybody going through them documenting every passage."

[Gaius Montgomery]

"I'm going to just accept that it's alien and go with it."

[Sean Hall]

"Should always try to understand the things that you're using," Sean said.

[Gaius Montgomery]

"In due time of course. But for now the devil is in the details and that devil is boredom," he smirked. The world was his playground after all, and what child need know of the physics of oscillation in order to ride the swing set.

[Sean Hall]

"How could you bored at a school like this?" Sean asked.

[Gaius Montgomery]

"Well it's not action twenty-four seven now is it?" he smirked.

"Besides, it's more pent up boredom from my time at Oxford than anything. Now that was a dull place," he said with disdain.

[Sean Hall]

"And here I thought uni was about getting an education," Sean said.

[Gaius Montgomery]

"You would say that."

[Sean Hall]

"Not all of us have a huge trust fund to fall back on, Gaius," Sean said, "Some of us have to actually use our education to get a job."

[Gaius Montgomery]

"We're mutants, gods among men, and all you can think of is a job?"

[Sean Hall]

"And now you've pretty much stated why non-mutants hate us," Sean said, "This god detects mutant powers, and occasionally trips while walking on perfectly level ground, so I think I'll work towards a career that doesn't involve wearing tights."

[Gaius Montgomery]

"As exciting as it would be, I won't be running around in skin-tight jammies either."

[Sean Hall]

"Worried about how you'd look in the tabloids?" Sean asked.

[Gaius Montgomery]

"Like the opinion of tabloid readers matters," he chuckled.

[Sean Hall]

"Thought that's all the super rich cared about," Sean said, "That and the price of gold."

[Gaius Montgomery]

"That would be daddy dearest," he said with a roll of his eyes.

[Sean Hall]

"And here I thought the apple hadn't fallen far from the tree," Sean said.

[Gaius Montgomery]

"If that were true, I'd be a business major."

[Sean Hall]

"So you actually chose a major?" Sean asked.

[Gaius Montgomery]

He sighed. "The truth is I have no idea where it is I'm going."

[Sean Hall]

"I know this hurts, but that makes you just like quite a few of the people here," Sean said.

[Gaius Montgomery]

"It's the one way I'd like to be more like my father. Clarity of purpose."

[Sean Hall]

"Not a big fan of your father?" Sean asked.

[Gaius Montgomery]

"He had my life planned from the bloody womb and has just about all but disowned me for not being a good little puppet," he answered, "And I don't know why I just told you that."

[Sean Hall]

"I don't know either," Sean said, "Maybe because you don't a little gang of hangers on at this school?"

[Gaius Montgomery]

"It is a distinct possibility."

[Sean Hall]

"Perhaps you need to learn how to mingle with the common folk," Sean said.

[Gaius Montgomery]

"Then that I shall do my good man."
