"I don't at all. But unless you're expecting me to put up my hair and use these to hold it in place, then yes, a demonstration is in order." she laughed.

Renko chuckled and moved his chair over next to Stephanie's.

"Don't worry it's not too difficult," Renko said before going through step by step how to hold the chopsticks, and then waited to see how Stephanie did.

Stephanie was a pretty quick study, it seemed. "Oh...this isn't all that bad, I guess," she said tentatively testing on her own.

Renko smiled, and watched her for a moment before putting his hand on hers and making a minor adjustment to the way she was holding the chopsticks.

"Helps you get a better grip on things," Renko said, "You're a pretty quick study I bet you'll be picking up jell-o in no time."

Stephanie smiled, her stomach fluttering slightly at his touch.

"Oh," she said, looking down at her hands, "that even feels more comfortable."

Renko took his hand away from Stephanie's with some reluctance.

"Hard to enjoy your food if you get a cramp halfway through the meal," Renko smiled. "How's the duck?"

"Amazing," she said with her mouth full. Then she realized her manners, stopped, swallowed, and turned red. "Sorry. My other half isn't much for table manners sometimes, and I'm very hungry."

"Don't worry about it," Renko said, "It's a sign that you're enjoying it, but hopefully your other half will let you save some room for dessert."

"There is always, always, room for dessert," she smiled. "My family were big dessert people. Both grandmas were amazing bakers. I can still remember the way that the house would smell when they came to visit. When I was with them, I could actually pass for a cook."

"Maybe I'll try sometime and make you test," she said, taking a sip of her wine. She didn't dare let go of her chopsticks if she wanted to keep them in the right position. "But I should probably make you sign a waiver or something, absolving me of any guilt if you get poisoned."

Stephanie smiled, "You're too kind. I can assure you that I'm a pretty terrible cook. If you're feeling brave, perhaps I'll try sometime,"

"Be careful what you wish for..." she teased.

"But I'm game," steph smiled.

"That would be even better. I need adult supervision in the kitchen so I don't set anything on fire that isn't supposed to be burning," she laughed.

Steph had an incredible appetite, Renko would notice as the meal wore on. He'd honestly be hard pressed to keep up at her rate, though there was at least an end in sight--the bottom of the serving dishes.

"Oh my lord, I look like such a pig," she said, suddenly realizing just how much she'd been eating. "Please tell me you had enough to eat."

"Wait we aren't supposed to set things on fire?" Renko asked innocently before being mesmerized by Stephanie eating.

Before responding to Stephanie's comment he asked the waitress to get dessert ready.

"Don't worry about me, I ate my fair share" Renko smirked, "Was worried I might lose my hand a couple of times though."

The staff began picking up the plates, so they could clear space for dessert.

"Actually I was just counting on you having a nice evening with me," Renko smiled warmly. "And I'll take care of the tab, but if you want I can teach you about another Chinese tradition."

Stephanie looked up at him bashfully, a smile creeping onto her face, "Well, that, I am having. And please, let the cultural exchange continue."

She took a sip of her wine, "I'm buying next time, though. Arguing with me would only get messy," she flashed him a sly smirk, her eyes almost imperceptibly flashing yellow.

"A second date would be nice," Renko said before he began to blush. "Er..well, it seems that you've already touched on what I was going to teach you. In China they argue over who will pay the bill. It's a reputation thing, but in this case I just wanted to treat a wonderful lady to a nice dinner."

Dessert was served then, and it wasn't a traditional Chinese dish. It was instead something that looked like thisbecause girls like chocolate, right?

"Well, I do that arguing thing a lot," Steph blushed, but was spared by the arrival of dessert, "Oh wow, that looks amazing," she said excitedly. She was apparently a fan of chocolate.

"Who doesn't?" she smiled, then suddenly found the dessert very interesting to stare at as he continued to compliment her. "Stop it," she said bashfully.

"Feeding me, foisting undeserved compliments at me and listening to me when I tell you what to do? I must've done something really good to deserve this," she smiled as she finished the last bite of her side of the shared dessert.

"Sure," she smiled, "Let's go with that. I like that."

She finished the last bit of wine that was in her glass. "So, did you have any plans the rest of the night, or did you just want to retire for the evening?"

"I didn't have any other plans mostly because I was waiting to see if I would shove my foot into my mouth, get into a car accident, or have an inhibitor malfunction and disintegrate my clothes," Renko smiled, "So I'll leave the last bit of the evening up to you, but you can think about that while we walk along the Thames."

Once they'd exited the restaurant Renko offered Stephanie his arm. After all always need to be a gentleman, right? Then lead her towards the sidewalk that ran along the Thames.

"If I fall into the Thames you're going to need to rescue me," Renko smirked.
