"Spelunking? Really?" Sean asked sounding rather interested, "Don't meet too many girls who actually like spelunking, actually don't meet much of anybody who does."
"I wasn't at the orphanage that long, and I was adopted by a wealthy family. Most people thought I was lucky, so they didn't have a whole lot of pity," Sean said, "Instead I got looked down on, and picked on."
"It wasn't," Sean said, "And my mutation wasn't nearly scary enough to make them stop, so I ignored them. After all I didn't want to be friends with people who thought picking on somebody for being adopted was okay."
"Probably," Sean said, "But even I have limits, and I didn't want to put in the effort trying to change the minds of people I'd probably never see again after graduation."
