May 17th - Memories Frozen in Time

Postby Sara McDohl » Thu Feb 03, 2011 3:22 am

McDohl had taken time to reflect on her antics the previous day, meeting with Mel, playing with Will, and screwing over the restaurant. She had made her way back to where they met, not inside the diner, obviously, but nearby.

Without skipping a beat, she made her way to 38, ringing the bell three times.

A woman opens the door. She looks vaguely familiar but Sara can't quite place her. Without a word she ushers her inside and leads her up into a penthouse apartment, Melpomene is draped on a couch facing one of the windows. Without turning around she addresses her.

"Hello, Sara. Back so soon?"

"She wants to do it..it makes her happy." She goes on, looking back at the girl for a moment, before going back to Mel.

The woman (is that the waitress from the cafe?) just blankly stares into the air without anything to do.

"The shifting or being told what to do? That's quite the distinction you're leaving out there."

"People who are susceptible to simple manipulations tend to have a lower resistance to deeper seated ones as well. Especially shapeshifters who tend to have a very flexible definition of themselves to begin with. Why do you think Samantha has gone through the effort of compartmentalizing her mind? The first time I met her she was almost as impressionable as your friend sounds."

In time... she smiles to herself.

"Not quite the point I was trying to make. Their psyche takes to new things easily which makes some of them easy, if somewhat un-challenging targets. But it allows for some quite impressive results."

McDohl explained about her antics the previous day, turning Willow into a lamp, changing the bulb out, and integrating the new bulb as part of her. "I was absolutely shocked she was able to transform the light bulb into part of her body!"

"And wouldn't you want to know how to change that? You could make her trust you if you learned how to..." she says, smiling and trying very hard not to look like a shark who is smelling the blood in the water now.

"She does that, doesn't she?" she says, putting on her best sympathetic smile. "I can teach you how to hide it better so that even Sammy won't notice. I could even show you how to turn her into exactly the friend you want."

Melpomene just smiles, she didn't even have to read Sara's thoughts to see what was going through her head.

Behind them in the room the former waitress shifted her weight around a bit, just enough to be a reminder of her presence. Certainly that was entirely coincidental.

"Don't make it sound so mundane."

From a cursory mental glance the woman seems to be happy, maybe a little simple-minded but still. It is of course a charade as Mel hasn't had the time to truly change the former waitress from the ground up but Sara would have to dig deep to notice.

"She's taking care of things around the house, so in a way she is a servant. But in the greater scheme of things her role is not important, she's merely a supernumerary."

Numerous thoughts go through her head at once, mostly about wanting one of her own..but she looks back to Mel with a smile. "Could be useful for something.."
