There was a visible effort as Samantha pulled the flock back into herself, her features flowing back into something that hopefully wouldn't shock her girlfriend.

Nailah's eyes flutter open, catching a glimpse of Sam's features shifting before she is back to normal. Unsurprisingly she seems rather confused by that.

"What happened?"

"You're worth it, love," she said as she wrapped her arms around the sphinx. "I wasn't about to let her just have you, even though that turned out to not be what she was after."

"And oddly enough, even as unsettling as seeing this was, it feels better to have it out in the open now. That this was almost my worst-case scenario, and it didn't end as badly as I thought it would."
