May 13th - Cerebro Womb - "Dry run" doesn't quite fit...

Postby Samantha McManus » Mon Jan 24, 2011 5:13 pm

Ms. McManus was inside the dome wearing her unstable molecule jumpsuit, waiting while technicians checked the tolerance levels and the tank filled.

And Nailah was standing near the door. It's not quite sure when she entered, but now she's waiting patiently for the things to come.

Samantha received the go-ahead from the technicians, and walked up the steps to the top of the tank, before slipping in. She showed very little discomfort as she forced the air from her lungs, allowing the oxygenated fluid to fill them. Then, as she was suspended in the tank, the room began to light up. It was not simply a dome, but a sphere around the platform in the middle of it. A map of the world from the inside. In settled areas, points of light began to shine in various concentrations. Mutant life-signatures.

And above all else, those within the chamber started to feel the overwhelming presence of Samantha's mind, and the impression of flapping, feathered wings.

"Ah," Cassiel said as he walked in. "I'd heard we were going back to our favorite configuration," he said, looking around at the much-more-familiar equipment.

Nailah was used to Sam's mind to some degree, but she still steeled herself a little against it. Partly out of reflex and partly to not distract Sam with 'de-synched' thoughts.

"Please warn me if you are going to use it, so I don't walk in on the wrong person." she responds to Cassiel with a slight smirk.

"Seems to be handling well," Samantha mindspoke to those present.

"Of course, the real test is whether it still does after we run the re-initialization routine on the fluid, to make sure it's not retaining psi-residue like the dome did."

"At the very least it looks better than before."

The thought is accompanied by a mental smirk and the image of Sam in the tank from Nailah's perspective.

"I'll admit I would have thought the liquid to be less viscous. And it's not just that. The floating has a certain... serenity to it."

"Just how far is your reach this way?" she wonders, looking at the inside-out globe.

"Global. Helps to focus on one area, though."

"Aye. Both Mike and I have trained on the prior iterations. Charles originally invented it so he could locate and help mutants worldwide."

"And these days, you can easily see there's quite a bit more mutants out there. Far from when there would be only a handful of lights on the map."

Cassiel smirked a bit. "Just global? Sam, I think you're being modest."
