Stephanie had finally turned away from her computer, but slouched in her chair, facing Daniel and Kyra, her arms crossed defensively over her chest. She kept her mouth shut for now.

"Yes," Daniel said dryly. "That's exactly why I let it drop to her that that happened while I was in the future," he said, jerking his head toward Steph. "Because I had no idea that it would introduce just enough 'that's just weird' to make sure that nothing ever happened between us."

"I also didn't want her to have to hear it from someone else who was going to try to make it sound like I was going after her or something," he pointed out. Kyra would be able to quite easily sense that he was just very much nervous and on the defensive, even close to panic, though he was putting on a good show of being rational.
