Thursday May 10: Basking in the Sun

Melody stretched out on the quad, a blanket underneath her, and her bag turned into a makeshift pillow. It had been a long day of classes, and she was close to dozing off in the warm spring sun. At least it was finally the weekend for her--she didn't have classes on Friday.

Daniel stopped, considering the dozing girl. Then he walked away.

A few minutes later, he returned with a water balloon, debating on if he should or not.

Melody seemed blissfully unaware of Daniel at the moment.

Well, that's what happens when you wear a shirt that thin around oh-so-mature people like me... Daniel thought as he heated up his hand and burst the balloon over her.

Melody screamed and bolted upright, whipping her head around, a mixture of surprise, fear, and...yeah, yeah, that was a bit of anger on her face.

"You cocksucker. Now I'm soaking wet." She noticed exactly who it was then, though, and her expression softened, "Oh god damnit, Uriel," she smirked.

Daniel grinned. "So, let me make sure I have this right. If anyone else were to dump water on you, they'd get your full vitriolic wrath, but I get a pass?" he teased.

[Melody Martens]

"Hey, you kept me sane in the future," she smiled, laughing a bit, "Besides, you can dry me off."

[Daniel Uriel]

"Right, I think you just go easy on people who have detailed knowledge of your grooming habits," Daniel joked, holding out his hand with a ball of fire in it that slowly went from gold to blue as he made it hotter.

Melody rose and used the heat from her hand to dry herself off. It worked quite well, and when they were both sober, there was less likelihood of getting a hand-shaped scorch mark on an inappropriate area.

"How do you know I haven't changed that, anyway. Not like you've seen it all that recently," she smirked. "Keep talking like that, dicknose, and I'll beat your ass, then let my boyfriend kick your ass too." she grinned playfully.

He snorted. "Right, problem is I could take your boyfriend's ass and my girlfriend might be able to take your ass, so let's just get content with the fact that I'm going to keep teasing you about that forever and that you should take it as a compliment that I can't forget what I saw. Very reasonable! Right, Freckles?" he teased, squelching the flame when she was done.

"Oh? You have a girlfriend again?" she asked.

[Daniel Uriel]

"I'm starting to think that Kyra and I are a never ending cycle of conflict and apology that'll one day end the world. But at least it'll be fun ending it," Daniel said, smirking.

[Melody Martens]

"Well good for her," she smiled, "she's lucky to have you. Maybe."

[Daniel Uriel]

"Pfff, 'maybe'. Don't worry, I know you're not the kind to sneak around, so I won't start trying to make you admit how jealous you are," Daniel joked.

Melody gave Daniel a pretty convincing 'as if look.

Part of her, though, did feel something, and she wasn't quite sure what it was at first. Was it jealousy? Did she actually have a crush on him instead of Derek? Then, it hit her...she still hadn't told Derek what had happened in the future.

Son of a...you stupid whore...just...act natural...around both of them...yeah...that's the ticket.

Suddenly finding herself looking down at the ground, she plopped back down to her makeshift blanket and bookbag pillow and stretched out again. "Any big weekend plans other than spilling water on innocent girls on the quad, jerkface?" she smirked.

"Nah, I'm just taking my opportunities as they come to me," he chuckled, plopping down too.

[Melody Martens]

"Where the hell did you even get that water balloon anyway?" she smirked, turning her head towards where he sat down.

[Daniel Uriel]

"If you live in a college, there are things you learn to keep in your room for when they're finally needed," he said. "Plus, you were asleep, so I had time to go get it."

[Melody Martens]

"You, sir, are ridiculous," she smirked. "But I suppose you're good to have around if *I* want to pull any pranks on anyone."

[Daniel Uriel]

"See, keep with this 'I'm good to have around' stuff and people will stop thinking you're right in the head," Daniel warned her, still grinning.

[Melody Martens]

"And....I've cared about what people thought about me since when? I don't think I put on a single bit of makeup until last year, I've got a competitive streak the size of the Blob. You may just get pranked in retaliation. Just you wait." she grinned.

He smirked. "All right. If that's true, I'll just start spreading rumors, and you won't come getting angry at me, no matter what I make people think."

Melody smirked, "Just remember that payback is a bitch, and I'm pretty good with Photoshop."
