Bug Hunt: Wrath

It was still early in the day, so Wrath wasn't open at the moment. But with a bit of persuading by X-Corp they were given permission to search the premises.

One of the maintenance staff was on hand to unlock the back door for whoever showed up to conduct the search. The man grumbled as he unlocked the door and opened it.

Perched throughout the entire interior was hundreds of golden butterflies, gently fluttering their wings from every corner.

The path behind him closed up as he was led down onto the main floor with all the special equipment.

Lying on one of the tables was...someone. It was hard to tell anything beyond the fact that it used to be a human being. The body had been burned beyond recognition. Pinned to the body was a page from a medical textbook discussing the effects of severe burns on the human body.

The word "death" had been circled.

The butterflies suddenly took flight, coming together into a cloud before a very large probe dropped down from the swarm. Hissing mandibles clicked together as it menaced Will.

It pounced at Will, sharpened mandibles slicing downward at him.

Will turned into a liquid, and splashed 'through' the thing, only to reform and slam a blow down from behind.

The blow knocked the thing into the floor. It weakly tried to right itself, apparently disoriented.

The thing made a very satisfying splat sound as Will crushed it.

In a private room to Will's left he could hear someone moving.

The thing dodged quickly and fluidly, rearing up and spraying a compound at Will designed to solidify the boy and lock him into a single form.

Will swore and screamed in pain as the glop hit him, but kept swinging his blade-arms around to try to pierce the damn thing.
