May 3 - What a day

[Derek Scott]

"Damn, that's where I went wrong, isn't it? No wonder I'm so boring," he chuckled.

[Isabel Galen]

"Teach you to stand behind the door when the mutations get passed out."

[Derek Scott]

"I'll have you know I like my mutation, thank you very much," Derek said, only mildly defensively.

[Isabel Galen]

"Its very ornamental."

[Derek Scott]

Derek glared at her, trying not to look amused. And not being very successful at it.

[Isabel Galen]

Isabel grinned, and tossed a peanut at him.

[Derek Scott]

He just smirked and made a flicking gesture, sending a puff of sparkling dust at her.

[Isabel Galen]

"oooh, sparkly." Isabel said with a little giggle.

[Derek Scott]

"Well, like you said, I'm very ornamental," he said, smirking.

[Isabel Galen]

"Hows it going with your girl, anyway?"

[Derek Scott]

Derek actually seemed to need to consider this for a second. "Pretty good? Different, I guess. She likes her space and to do her own thing on her own time sometimes... which is good, I mean, with the crazy hours I get in the clinic, but sometimes it kind of sucks."

[Isabel Galen]

"Yeah, I guess."

[Derek Scott]

Derek quirked an eyerbrow. "What, I need to quit thinking about it so much?"

[Isabel Galen]

"You've got somebody, you like her, she likes you, why overthink it?"

[Derek Scott]

Derek sighed and nodded. "Yeah, I know," he said, motioning for Mack to bring him another drink as he picked his up to take the last pull from it.

[Isabel Galen]

"So, why are you overthinking it?"

[Derek Scott]

"Just not used to it," he said. "Guess I'm used to being the one that's too busy, and not by choice," he said, shrugging.

[Isabel Galen]

"Ok."

[Derek Scott]

"And maybe I'm a little anxious," he admitted. "I'm kind of bad luck in that department."

[Isabel Galen]

"You and everyone else." Isabel said, taking a pull of her beer.

[Derek Scott]

Derek considered this. "Maybe," he admitted. "Always seems like everyone else has all the luck, but I guess everyone gets just as screwed in the end, huh."

[Isabel Galen]

"Yeah, I don't see any of the couples here being in it for the long haul."

[Derek Scott]

Derek nodded. "Yeah. Well, not most of them, at least. Guess it's just the 'better than being alone' thing or something," he reasonoed.

[Isabel Galen]

"Plus, for a lot of them, its the first time they've been around other mutants. Makes sense they'd want to get they're mutie freak on."

[Derek Scott]

"Well, it's hard to blame them, the mutie freak is much more fun than the human freak to get on," Derek teased.

[Isabel Galen]

"I wouldn't know." Isabel said with a shrug.
