Name: Taimont "Tai" Flyhight
Age: 19
Codename: TBD
Origin: USA

Power: Spontaneous Development. Simply put Tai can create items/objects/whatever with his mind. If he concentrates on it long enough he can create it. Of course there are limits to this power, nothing in life is unlimited unfortunately.

1. He can't create anything consumable. Well technically he can, but it won't turn out too well. He has trouble getting textures and tastes right. Once he tried to create a cake. It looked perfect: round, three layers, vanilla icing, strawberries on top, the kind of cake you'd get from a bakery. Then he took a bite of it: it crunched. You get the idea.

2. He can't create anything that is not solid. This means he can't create nerve gas or a cup of goat urine. Liquids and gases have too many molecules/atoms/whatevers that they are way too complicated to create. It would be like trying to create a person, it just doesn't work. He is hoping to one day make something liquid.

3. The more complex it is, the more taxing/draining it is. Creating something like a pen takes very little thought thus it would take very little energy to make. However to create something like a Nuclear Fusion engine would be incredibly complicated and would probably kill him if he tried to create it. That would be interesting to see however...

There are other limits but he has yet to discover them. As far as timing goes he can create most objects within a few seconds. If it's big, like jumbo jet size it would take anywhere from 15-30 minutes and would pretty much drain him completely.

Personality: Tai is your every day nice guy. He gets along great with others and is generally very friendly. He also likes making people smile. Tai is very adventurous and loves to have fun, almost to the point of being called crazy. He likes to try new things to see what happens; he's practically fearless. This has gotten him into trouble on more than one occasion though.

Description: Tai is about 5'6 with dirty brown hair that likes to go down past his ears no matter how many times he cuts it. He has an average build, somewhat athletic with some muscle built up from playing sports and being active. He generally wears casual clothes, jeans, t-shirts, etc, depending on the day and the weather.

Background: Tai grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and in Key Largo, Central Florida and Northern Florida. His parents moved around alot when he was a kid so he was never in the same place for more than a few years. As such he went to several different schools and made new friends all the time. His father was an accomplished writer and his mother was a nurse, therefore they could both work virtually anywhere. They would tell Tai he was special because he's been to so many different places and seen and experienced so many different things. This only made Tai want to move more of course.

When he was 13 years old he had his first experience with his powers. He was sitting in his seventh grade science class watching his best friend Justin present his project to the class. Justin was a clown so naturally he was goofing around in front of the class while doing his presentation. The class laughed as he bounced around and gave his speech, which was full of jokes and puns. Tai laughed too of course, they were always cracking each other up and acting stupid. While he watched him Tai had the urge to throw something at him. He didn't want to hurt him, just his way of messing with him. He searched his bag for something he could throw but to no avail, all he had were school books and his lunch. Tai leaned forward on his desk and rested his chin on his hands in defeat, watching Justin entertain everyone. He wished he had something, anything to throw at him; like a tennis ball. Yeah! A tennis ball would be perfect. He kept picturing a tennis ball in his mind: round with a soft, almost fluffy green texture and full of air. Lost in thought Tai grinned and pulled his arm back as if he were going to throw the ball at Justin. He went through with the motion and to his surprise a tennis ball went flying through the air. The ball bounced off his friend's chest and rolled across the floor to a corner of the room. Everyone laughed, including Justin, and his teacher just shook his head.

Tai told his parents about it when he got home that day. Tai's mother is a mutant too, so they all knew there was a chance he could be a mutant too. His father would joke about it saying how Tai's power would be he could turn into Gatorade. They would all laugh and wonder about what his power would be. Now it seems his power is creation. Tai's mother was a mutant with the power to heal others to a certain degree. She was no miracle worker, she could just stimulate the body to recover from whatever is ailing it. If the ailment has a cure then she can help speed it up. She could help broken bones heal quicker, mend cuts, bruises, etc. If it is incurable, she could supress it enough to where it wouldn't effect the person but it wasn't a complete cure. That's what made her decide to be a nurse, that and she liked helping people.

The years went by and Tai got better and better with his power. He could create many things of various sizes, from footballs to chairs to couches to boulders and walls his size and bigger than him. The bigger and/or more detailed the object he was creating was would determine how draining/taxing it would be on him, and how fast he could make it. Most objects he could create within a few seconds, the bigger ones would take a few minutes. When he was 19 it was decided he would go to a college that would accommodate not only his academic career, but help him with his powers as well. Xavier's University in London appeared to be his best bet so he and his parents would make the necessary arrangements and after a long goodbye he got on a plane and flew off on his journey.

Is this a new app for Alen, or for his roommate? I'm asking because although we don't have a time limit on creating new characters, we do ask that new people start with just one character, until they get a feel for the game.

Not me. This is my Roommate. I'm still trying to figure out how to fix Aly.

The powerset is interesting. I'd like to see a bit more detail about 'how' it works-why can't he make food? How long does it take him to make a pencil? A jumbo jet?

The powerset seems pretty well developed already-where do you see development happening? What other limits are going to be found?

Regarding Tai's backgroud-This is a Marvel RPG, not a Harry Potter RPG. Unless there is some very compelling reason why she'd hide it, Tai would know that his mother was a mutant. Also, in the MU, powers tend to manifest at puberty. Earlier isn't impossible, but it would be very unusual. Also, in the MU, someone who had the kind of abilities that Tai did would realize that they were a mutant without having to be told. Also, although some mutants do choose to hide their powers, for the most part, mutants live openly. If you want Tai's mother to be someone who kept her mutation secret, that is fine. But it needs to be explained.

I am not a mod, but i think the powers are pretty well explained, as well as most of the app.

But something I would like to know is, how long does it take to make things? say he wants to make a sword.

And if he wanted to make a boulder the size of himself, would he be able to do that? would it take any longer, or just be more taxing?

Just things I wonder about...

Originally I left out food because I didn't want him to be too powerful, but I suppose it would be possible for him to make food. He would just have to concentrate on all the details of the food he wants, the taste, feel, etc. As far as time goes, I never really thought about it. I guess it would depend on what he's making and how hard he concentrates. A pencil would only take a few seconds whereas a jumbo jet would take at least a few minutes.

I figure he would learn how to make things faster and make more complex stuff. As for limits, he's going to discover there are some things he just can't make, no matter how hard he tries.

You're right, I didn't think of that. That's an easy fix though.

That I didn't know. I didn't know when his powers would first manifest so I picked first grade at random. No worries though, I wanted to tweak his back story anyway so I'll make sure everything is right.

Another thing I did not know. I'm still new to the Marvel Universe and with my only sources of info being the X-Men movies and Marvel Ultimate Alliance games, I figured mutants would keep their powers secret. I really need to read more comics lol.

Edward Cross wrote:But something I would like to know is, how long does it take to make things? say he wants to make a sword.

I'm still working out the time factor but I can say it depends on what he's trying to make. Depending on how long the blade is, if it's curved or straight, how detailed the hilt is, etc, would all factor in to how long it would take. Still, it wouldn't take more than a few minutes.

Edward Cross wrote:And if he wanted to make a boulder the size of himself, would he be able to do that? would it take any longer, or just be more taxing?

He could do it. It would take a little longer but it's definitely possible.

Just chiming in to say I think this character is really really interesting, and with a slight backstory tweak, should be a lot of fun.

A couple suggestions I have (though I Am Not A Mod [tm]).

Maybe he can make food partially one way or another, it's just too complex--like he could get the look right OR the texture OR the taste OR the nutrition, etcetera, but combining it all is just too much work. You could even work that into other things more complex than a pencil or something, too. That gives you a logical reason why he can't do X, AND room to grow--he could slowly get more and more accurate as time went on.

As for the backstory, I was in your shoes--I don't know much about the Marvel universe either. The Current Comparison du jour in the MU is Being a Mutant == Being Gay, kinda. It's something there's a lot of bigotry and prejudice against, and some people really don't like to have it be broadcast publicly that they're a mutant, but some people treat it as a badge of honor, etcetera. Will, for instance, had a bit of a public power disaster, then transferred to a private school where he kept his powers secret, while other characters either couldn't or chose not to do so. But it was pretty clear when he started shifting shapes that he was, in fact, a mutant :)

As for the age thing, it's certainly possible for your chari to be a mutant that young--there are always outliers on either end :).

Ok I tweaked the back story and made the explanation of his power a little more clear. I also went into the timing factor a bit. If there's anything else that needs to be changed/explained please let me know.

Thanks to everyone for their input and support! *Bows*
