Hey, this App is by your friendly neighborhood Admin, Drascus/Domanic. It's jumping the gun a little on the Genoshan characters, but I figured I'd toss in a bit of a sample-application to help people figure out what kinds of characters we're looking for. Ria is more or less the poster child for characters that will be brought in during an upcoming Issue. Not so much in her Power, we're using the normal guidelines there, but the fact that she is young, at least somewhat socially aware, and not currently in the employ of any of the major power brokers in Genosha.

Name: Ria 'Fracture' Larsen
Age: 20

Weight: 360lbs (Crystal Form)

Power: Crystal Elemental - Fracture possessed the ability to create crystals from the time she was three years old, but a few months after her 14th birthday she transformed into a crystal elemental. Her natural form is now a humanoid crystal shape that can flex and move as a human body should. She's normally composed mostly of various colors of Beryl, though she does actually retain distinct organs which are made of different types of crystal. If the organs still serve any kind of biological function is unknown, as it's obviously very hard to do any kind of medical testing on inorganic crystal.

In her natural form, Fracture is extremely strong, and highly resistant to damage. Most fires aren't a problem for her but strong enough energy sources will melt/burn her. She does not require oxygen to survive, nor organic food, but she does need to ingest or absorb minerals on a regular basis. She can eat organic food without harm, but it does her no good. She naturally grows small bits of crystal which can be shed easily enough, and can regenerate broken or shattered parts of her body at a moderate speed.

Fracture can also transform her body into various states. She can't change her shape, other than to extrude small bits of crystal here and there, but she can change her composition. She can become various types of crystal fairly easily if the transformation is across her whole body, or with more difficulty she can become a mixture of crystal types. She can also return her body to flesh, as it used to be. Regardless of the type of transformation, remaining transformed tires her, and she must eventually return to her natural form. At the moment she can sustain a transformation for a few hours without too much trouble, beyond that she starts getting tired and wanting to revert.

Personality: Ria belies the sterotype of Elementals being cold and emotionally distant. She is as emotional, passionate, and engaged with the world as any young woman. She does try to keep a certain emotional distance from people she meets for the first time, until she can ascertain if the person will treat her like another person, or if she'll be treated like an animate rock. If the latter is the case, she tries to keep things cool and professional, having seen that reaction enough that it doesn't bother her too much. On the other hand, if the new person she's meeting treats her like she's a real person, she generally relaxes and warms up a lot.

Ria's main passions are music, and gardening. Something about the fragile beauty of flowers resonates with her. Music on the other hand, literally resonates with her. She's also on the lookout for romance, but doesn't hold out a lot of hope. Her body has all the right curves, but organic men are generally only so attracted to a woman who's body is hard enough to scratch quartz.

Description: Ria's crystal body is a mixture of blue and green mostly, with a few other colors of Beryl mixed in, making her mostly an Emerald. Her hair is striking red, and her eyes golden. She tends to wear loose fitting clothing, because anything tight that catches wrong will be shredded by her strength and tough body. Since she doesn't have much trouble with temperature, she tries to wear clothing that will reveal her sparkling skin. Tank tops, capri shorts, that sort of thing are her usual outfits. More often than not, her shirt bears the white and gold GeNDA logo of her chosen political party.

Background: Born in Genosha to mutant parents, Ria's early ability with crystals was celebrated by her family. What might have been a terrifying and traumatic experience when she transformed was instead greeted as a coming of age ceremony and lauded as a good sign. In large part, this helped Ria retain her humanity and adjust well to her situation.

She's currently studying a bit aimlessly, but passionately involved in a political youth-movement called GeNDA, or Genoshan New Democracy Alliance. They're pushing for reforms in the government, specifically less appointments to power positions by Magneto, more positions elected by the populace, and more information disclosure by the government. GeNDA has almost no power in the government but its followers are typically very passionate, fired up young mutants who are determined to make a difference. Just about any high school or college in Genosha has at least one GeNDA rep handing out flyers during festivals and the like. Unfortunately, their target audience doesn't vote very often, so they're making little headway.

Geneology: Ria's Parents, Victor and Sasha Larsen are both mutants. Victor is a fire projector and manipulator, Sasha has the ability to phase through solid materials. Both live in Genosha, happily married. Victor works as a commercial consultant, Sasha is an engineer, specializing in new material technology.
