There are lots of things that control what goes into the tank and what comes out and when, temperature sensors, pressure valves, those kind of things. At first not much happened, but after a while the sound of straining metal came from somewhere within the machinery as several valves failed while others just happened to continue working and more and more nutrient solution gets pumped into the main chamber until the pressure eventually exceeds what the plexiglass window can take and with a crack that's probably heard upstairs the tank ruptures, spilling out what of the nutrient liquid hasn't been already absorbed by the second mass that pours from the tank in a massive: an enormous wave of a grey, clay-like substance.
