When the first, very busy day of the camping trip began to wind down, Bear sat to the task of setting up the campfire.
Gathering the firewood and kindling, she stacked it and built a pit, and soon enough after a couple matches, a warm flame leapt into existence.
Smiling, she sat back, and waited for the rest of the campers to gather.

"Ghost stories, marshmallows, AND okay guitar playing. And if you all are good, I'll pull out the graham crackers and chocolate as well!"

"Ah, my favorite part of camping," Ryan said as he walked up to the fire, slipping his arm around Bear as he took a seat.

Bear grinned, giving him a kiss on the cheek as she pushed the embers around to better fuel the fire.
"So, did your day go well?" she asked.

Haley sat in a camp chair with her knees pulled up to her chest, and stared off into the distance, looking pissed off. She wasn't particularly close to the fire or the rest of the group, but wasn't so far away as to seem antisocial enough to attract the attention of the counselor types.
What a terrible idea it had been coming on this trip...

And to make matters worse, that's when Brigid walked up to the campfire with Alex in tow.
They looked... chummy.

Alex, in the meantime, was doing his best not to ogle Brigid as they walked up to the campfire. Which wasn't easy, but he was kind of managing to at least not to make it obvious.
Huh? he frowned at the odd thought.

Haley got up, went to her tent, and grabbed a light hoodie, pulling it on and sitting back down, the hood up and her knees tucked up to her chest underneath the hoodie. The shadows of the hood and the flickering campfire hid her scowl at least a bit...

"Hiya Haley." Christie called cheerfully "Thanks for helping with the wood!"

Haley pondered carefully her response, and merely elected to pull on arm out of her hoodie and flick Christie off.

Tommy came up to the fire next, pulling up a hoodie and sweatpants, and his ever present hat.
With too many words (none really) he picked up a marshmallow stick and began poking the fire experimentally. Looking from Haley to Brigid and Alex, he gave a friendly smile to each.

"Glad everyone's getting along," Victoria mused as she walked up to the group, taking a seat a little farther back in an unoccupied spot, so she could be farther from the fire but still not cut off from the group.

Haley just stared into the fire from the shadows of her hood, scowling.

Jason practically bounced up to the group before sitting down.
"Hey guys!"
...
"Oooh, marshmallows!" he grinned, grabbing a marshmallowed stick and poking it into the fire.

"Careful. All marshmallows wil be eaten, even charred ones. Campsite house rules!"
Bear smirked, pulling up an old acoustic guitar, and began strumming.

Good. Music to shut people up.
Haley scowled slightly less once the guitar started strumming.

"Hi T-bow," she said after a long pause, just staring into the fire. "Yeah. Fire's nice." she said quietly.

Bear, meanwhile, began singing some New England campground classics.
"One dark night, when we were all in bed, Ol' Mizz O'Leary put a lantern in the shed.."

Kay had been sparse the first day, outside of setting up (though to be honest she mostly benefitted from sharing one with Brigid in that regard) but judging from her wet hair she at least spent some time in the lake. Now she's sitting at the campfire, holding a marshmellow over it, looking glad. And it'd be damn hard to notice that at least part of it is fake.

Victoria, needless to say, was feeling far too dignified to be singing campfire songs. All the same, the general social time seemed to be good for her mood. And so it was with a playful smirk and a wink (when noticed) that she tossed a (non-toasted) marshmallow to bop it off of Kay's forehead.

Soon, Bear's reselling of the deadly, ruinous Chicago Fire in quippy campfire song came to an end.
"Anyone else have a song?" she asked, pulling out some chocolate bars and packages of graham crackers.
